*Emery's POV*
Why did I agree to stay for dinner tonight? Wait, I didn't agree, me and Ethan were outvoted. Ugh! Now I have to have dinner with Aria. I can't stand being in the same room as her, let alone eating dinner with her. I bet she's going to be all over Lia. I want to throw up at the sight of that. Maybe halfway through the dinner, me and Ethan will make up an excuse to go home. Everyone is now in the living room. I was sitting next to Ethan, Noah was sitting alone in the recliner, and Emma and Lia were sitting together on the other side of the couch.
Something weird was going on with Ethan. He's been on his phone for the last 20 minutes texting someone and hiding his screen from me.
"Ethan, what's going on? You and my mom are acting so weird today." I asked him as I was trying to look at his phone screen.
He quickly turned off his phone and put it in his pocket before I could see anything. "What do you mean? I'm not acting weird. If anything, your acting weird, you weirdo." He said in such a kid like voice with his arms crossed together.
"I mean, earlier today, my mom told me that she had a surprise for me. Oh! Do you know what it is?" I asked, sounding very excited.
"Maybe. Maybe not. Guess you'll have to find out tonight." He said, slowly getting up and sitting next to Lia and Emma, leaving me alone. I took a pillow and threw it at his head, earning me a laugh from Noah and Lia.
As more time passed, I started getting more and more nervous for dinner. I really didn't want to be in the same room as Aria and I know that she's going to do something to embarrass me. That's when I remembered about Olivia and how she doesn't know I'm eating dinner at Lia's. I decided to get up, walk to an empty hallway, and call her. To be honest, I felt really bad about her not being here, but I knew she wouldn't be mad at me.
After 3 rings, Olivia picked up.
"Hey Olivia."
"Hey Em, where are you right now? I heard what happened to you during first period. I swear if I see that Aria bitch, I'm going to kill her."
"Don't worry Olivia, I'm fine. I actually at Lia's house right now. Me and Ethan are stuck here and have to stay for dinner. Please don't me mad at me for ditching you tonight. But I promise, I'll make it up to you tomorrow."
"What?! Your at Lia Pierce's house! Are you two like friends or something?"
"Wha--no! Of course not. She offered to take me to her house and get me some clean clothes since the ones that I was wearing were wet. Anyways, I'll probably be home late, and if James comes over, you just call me and I'll meet you at our spot, okay?"
"Okay, but me, Ethan, and mom have a surprise for you. It may be coming sooner or later." I could practically hear the smirk on Olivia's face.
"What the heck is the surprise? You guys know I hate surprises. Anyways, I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye Em." Just before Olivia was about to hang up, I heard a girl in the background.
"Wait! Olivia, who was that? Do you have a friend over?"
"Wha--I--I don't know what your talking about. Okay byeeeee." Olivia hung up before I could her anymore questions.
I couldn't put much thought into the laughter because I heard before Lia walking up from behind me.
"Hey, I'm sorry about forcing you to dinner tonight. It's just that my mom wanted to meet you and Emma kind of has a small crush on you. And I really wanted you to stay for dinner, it'll be fun."
"Wait, Emma has a crush on me? Are you sure we're talking about the same Emery?" I asked in disbelief.
Lia laughed at my joke and and I swear, her laughter was like drugs to my ears. I could never get tired of hearing her laugh.
