8.| Reunion

*Emery's POV*

When me and Ethan arrived at my house, I saw my mothers car parked in the driveway.

"Ethan, didn't my mom say that she was working the night shift? Does she have a friend over?" I asked. 

Instead of answering my question, Ethan got out of the car and walked over to my side to open the door for me. We walked up to the front door and I was getting more nervous.

"Don't worry, you're going to love this surprise." Ethan said as he opened the door. When we both walked in, all the lights were turned off and I couldn't see anyone in the living room. But before I knew it, Ethan turned on all the lights and Emma, my mother, and Valentine jumped out of the dark. 

"OH MY GOD! Valentine?!" I yelled as I was running to her to give her the biggest hug.

"Em! It's been to long!" We hugged for what felt like years. But I pulled away from the hug and looked to the side where my mother, Emma, and Ethan was looking at us. I pointed to them with a look  of disbelief. 

"Did you all know about this?" I asked. 

"Well, we've been planning this surprise for a week. I first told Emma that I was moving back, then she told Ethan who told your mother." Valentine said.

"Valentine! I've missed you so much! Wait, your moving back to LA?"

I gave her another big hug which made the two of us fall on the ground with me on top of Valentine. We both laughed it off and Emma and Ethan joined in on the hug.  Sooner or later, the four of us were on the floor hugging each other. But my mother stopped us and told us to get up so we can eat dinner. 

After dinner we all went up to my room and hung out. 

"Why didn't you tell me that you  were moving back here?" I asked Valentine.

"I wanted it to be a  surprise!  And Ethan tells me that you have a crush on someone?"  Valentine said as she nudged  my shoulder.

"She doesn't have a crush on someone, she has a crush on Lia Pierce." Emma said.

I took a pillow from my bed and threw it right in Emma's face. "Shut up Emma. That's not true." I said. But Ethan had to come in and embarrass me even more. 

"It's true. Me and Emery had dinner at Lia's house tonight and when we were in the driveway,  they kissed."

Emma's and Valentine's face lit up. "WHAT!" They said at the same time. 

"Wait, no! We didn't kiss. I kissed her on the cheek and she kissed me back on my forehead." I clarified. 

"Still! You guys kissed! And she kissed you on the forehead. That means something." Emma said. Valentine was about to say something when I cut her off.

"It was not a kiss and a kiss on the forehead doesn't mean anything."

I could mean something. Lia did say all those things about me in the hallway and on the driveway. Does she really like me?

"Oh my god! This is so exciting! You and Lia would be the perfect couple." Valentine said. Emma and Ethan agreed while I ignored their excited squeals. Everyone else kept on talking about Valentines return and sorting out her first day at school tomorrow while I got a text. I grabbed my phone to see who it was from and my heart skipped a beat when I saw it was from Lia. 

{Lia Pierce} - Hey, I was just checking up on you and to apologize about Aria. She didn't have a right to say those things about you and your family. I'm sorry, but I promise I'll make it up to you tomorrow!
