Author’s Introduction

Dear Readers,

This journey started in November 2012 with a book I started writing on Wattpad called Red Team. At the time I had no connections on the site and people rarely came to check the book out. I was tempted to give up but I kept on posting and, over time, I got some fans and they liked the book. I write because I enjoy it but yes, I’ll admit that it helps immensely to see readers engage with and appreciate the story.

I tried posting another book I had written called Rise of the Judge. It was a fantasy book and while the people who read it expressed great affection for it, it also did not take off in a big way.

That’s when I came up with the idea for the Kiss List (I have heard from readers that there are books with very similar plot lines out there, at least at the start. Mine was published before any of the ones I’ve seen. Either way, I’m not going to claim that anyone copied me. Heck, if I inspired another writer, all the better!). Readership for the Kiss List built up slowly but then, suddenly, took off. As the book racked up tens of thousands of reads, I started to get detailed comments, questions, and requests from amazingly supportive readers. I’ve never had so much fun as when I am writing for readers like that. Readers like you.

The protagonist in Kiss List is a shy girl named Sadie Anderson who makes a pact with two of her friends to kiss every boy on a ten-person list that they create. Along the way, she kisses Nate Caldwell, the bad boy younger brother of her long-time crush, Aaron. Sadie and Aaron end up dating in the end, but readers seemed to be intrigued by Nate. Therefore, I followed up Kiss List with a book called Hookup List, which was written from Nate’s perspective.

As Nate’s story progresses, we learn that his mother had an affair and that Nate is actually a half brother to two other sibling characters, David and Faith Reagan.

I eventually posted the first two books in the series on Amazon because I wanted to share them with additional audiences. I left samples on the Wattpad site. Still, however, I wanted to share more of the story with the amazing Wattpad readers who supported me so much, so I wrote a third book, Hottie List. It’s from Faith Reagan’s perspective and it is currently on Wattpad in its entirety.

I still get questions from readers about Aaron and Sadie’s story arch. There have been many requests asking for another book that follows them. Other readers want more of Nate. Yet others want to know what happened to some of the boys on Sadie’s kiss list and some of the girls on Nate’s hookup list. I also don’t want to lose track of characters like Cooper Kelley from Faith’s hottie list.

It had been my original intention to write the fourth book solely about Oliver Caldwell, a character who was introduced as Nate, David, and Faith’s half brother and Aaron’s first cousin (it’s a messy family relationship – read Hottie List for the details!).I really wanted to give the readers what they wanted, however, and they wanted to hear more about other characters as well. Then a new idea occurred to me: I could write about them all. So, unlike the previous three books, the Bros List will not be written in one character’s first-person narrative. Instead, I am going to intertwine the stories of numerous characters. Sadie will be back, as will Nate. For the first time we will get into the minds of minor characters. New ones will be introduced.

This change is going to mean some alterations to the way I tell the story. The biggest one is that I am not going to write from the first-person perspective anymore. I think it’s going to be too difficult to keep track of characters if everyone is speaking as “I”. Instead, I’m going to write in the third person. Each chapter title will contain the name of the POV that chapter will be told from.

Whew, sorry of the long introduction! Hopefully that helps you long-time readers figure out what’s going on and gets you new readers up to speed. I am so grateful for every one of you.

Thanks and love!!!!
