Chapter 8 – Aaron

“Come on, Aaron,” Sadie said. “I want to get back before the boys wake up.”

“I’m not sure how I got roped into this,” Aaron grunted. Actually, that was a lie. He knew exactly how he had gotten roped into it. He had a girlfriend with the most gorgeous legs and the cutest butt he had ever seen. In exchange for getting to continue appreciating those fine features he would do anything. That didn’t mean he had to enjoy that ‘anything,’ though. “I feel a bit like a packhorse.”

“I can’t carry everything myself and I really want to surprise the boys with a nice Saturday morning breakfast,” Sadie said. “It’s the first time that all of them will have a free day together in Collegetown and then after tomorrow they’ll be busy with school. I think a great way to start the weekend is with a home-cooked meal, don’t you? It help any of them who are feeling homesick.”

“Of course, that’s very smart of you,” Aaron said. He couldn’t very well disagree with Sadie. “I’m just worried that they guys are getting spoiled. They better not expect you to cook for them every day.”

“You’re strict with them,” Sadie said. “I admire that. I can spoil them a little, though. Can you get the door?”

Aaron stared at her incredulously. In his arms he held two massive bags full of fruit and vegetables from the farmers market. Piled on top of that were cartons of eggs and loaves of bread. Sadie only held a small shopping bag in each hand. He knew better than to argue, though. “Of course, my mega-hot girlfriend,” he said. He pushed down the handle of the doorknob with his elbow and, wedging in his elbow, he was able to pry it open.

“Wonderful, thanks,” Sadie said. She walked into the kitchen. Aaron heard a sharp intake of breath and then Sadie said, “Oh, thank goodness Cody, it’s just you.”

“Just me?” Aaron’s other roommate, friend, and team mate Cody said between mouthfuls of cereal. The slob wasn’t even wearing a shirt; just his boxers. “What’s that supposed mean?”

“Nothing,” Sadie said. “It’s only that I wanted to surprise the boys. When I saw someone sitting down at the kitchen table I was worried that one of them had woken up.”

Cody shook his head and gave Aaron a look. “Your female is nesting,” he said accusingly. “This is supposed to be the bachelor pad.”

Aaron ignored him. “Where do you want this stuff, Sadie?” Aaron asked.

“Just put it on the counter,” Sadie said. “And don’t talk too loudly. I don’t want to wake up any of the other…”

“Any of the other what?” Nate asked as he walked into the kitchen. He wasn't wearing a shirt either. Aaron was going to have to talk to the guys about being fully clothed when Sadie was around. “Ah, wonderful, somebody brought us food.”

Sadie threw her hands up in disappointment. “Yes, well, I was going to cook you breakfast as a surprise but it looks like I’m too late. I had a tough time waking someone up this morning.” She gave Aaron a pointed stare.

“I was tired,” Aaron said in defense. “We were out late last night. Plus, I couldn’t remember what time you said you were coming over this morning.”

“I told you three times and wrote it on the back of your hand,” Sadie said.

“No you didn’t… Oh, yeah, I see it now,” Aaron said. He had forgotten that she did that.

“Well at least the other boys aren’t up yet,” Sadie said.

“I am,” Oliver said as he walked into the kitchen. At least he was fully clothed. “I went to bed early last night. I was tired after my long run away from a few angry members of the canoe and kayak club.”
