January 20, 2012,
Tonight was the night. Annabelle was brushing through her auburn locks, staring at herself in the mirror. She never thought this day would come. The day that THE Jack Woodridge asked her on a date. Everyone knew who he was; the all-star jock, head of the drama club, debate club, and the class president. Not to mention he was drop dead gorgeous. With his golden hair, that's slightly wavy; along with the green eyes that matched the forest during summertime.
She would have never seen it coming. It was during lunch, but the event in where he asked her was not in the lunch room, it was in the library. This is where she spent any of her free time. During break, lunch, free period, even those boring assemblies that students had to go to. She was close with the librarian, Mrs. Dorine, she was a sweet old lady who thought of Annabelle like her granddaughter.
"Hey, Anna right?" Annabelle's eyes froze mid reading, looking up from the pages of the very thick book in her hands. She sucked in a breath, not believing who was standing in front of her.
"It's Annabelle." She says softly, pushing her glasses back up her nose. She wasn't quite sure as to why he was talking to her, no one ever did.
"Right, Annabelle." He says, a suspicious smirk makes its way on to his face. "So listen, I've been watching you for a long time, not trying to sound stalkerish or anything, but you intrigue me." All Annabelle could think about is that someone actually noticed her, and what stunned her even more is that it was Jack Woodridge. "So I was wondering if you would want to go out on a date tonight?"
How could she say no? The most worshiped guy at this school just asked her out. Not to mention that he was her long time crush.
The doorbell rings, bringing her back into current time. She looks at herself in the mirror, satisfied with her black dress with red flats, hair half up half down, she makes her way down the stairs.
She opens the door to see Jack in a light blue buttoned up shirt with black jeans on.
"Hello Anna." He says, smiling down at her. 'It's Annabelle' she thought. But she didn't correct him.
"Hello Jack, you look handsome." He just nods his head, signaling for her to follow him to his car. She doesn't say anything about how he doesn't compliment her, not wanting to sound conceited.
When they enter the restaurant, the waitress sits them at their table. She couldn't have helped to notice the waitress shamelessly flirting with him, but he doesn't even seem to notice. Girls must flirt with him all of the time.
"So Anna, tell me about yourself." Jack says while talking with his mouth full. If there is one thing that Annabelle hates, it's seeing people chew or talk with food in their mouth.
So while answering, she looks anywhere but his face,"There isn't much to tell, I like to read books a lot and I draw a bit."
He looks at her with a bored expression,"Do you not play any sports?" She almost laughs at this question, you could never catch her doing anything athletic with her non existing coordinating skills and all. It's also not good for her health, asthma isn't something that could make playing sports any easier.
"No, I'm not really into sports." shaking his head, Jack just goes back to eating like, honestly, a pig. This date wasn't turning out how she expected. Annabelle always thought that he was the most kind, respectful guy, but has been proving her wrong.
When they get done, he pays for his meal, not saying anything to Annabelle on if she has to pay for her own or not. After a couple of minutes, she figures out that she, in fact, did have to pay for her food once the waitress came back with his change.
The car ride was quite awkward, him singing along to some pop music, not really her taste of the music world. She looks out the window the whole time, contemplating on if he asks her out again, if she would say yes or no. She decided on yes, wanting to get to know him more. Even of he wasn't that polite, but hey never judge a person on the first date right?
As they walk up to the porch, Jack turns to face Annabelle with the signature smirk,"Well I sure had fun tonight, but I think we both know it will never happen again." You could practically hear her heart breaking from miles away.
"To be honest, it all a dare. But sort of like a bet also, so I would like to thank you since I get money now." She almost tears up in front of him, but she will not let him have the satisfaction of seeing her in that sort of state.
"You mean you didn't actually want to get to know me?" Her voice cracking at the end of the question.
"Of course not! Why would I want to date someone like you?"
With that, he turns around not looking back once, gets in his car and drives off into the darkness.
That night was one the hardest times Annabelle has ever cried. She vowed to herself never to trust anyone, certainly a guy, again.

Present,
"Who's she?" The new kid, Dean asked.
He was fascinated by her within just the one second of seeing her for the first time. Her wavy black hair flowing down to her mid back, wearing some black skinny jeans along with a Queen shirt. To finish of her look, she was wearing a pair of black combat boots.
"Oh that's just Annabelle Grace, or should I say the outcast of the school."
He watched her walk down the hallway, not making eye contact with anyone at all.
"I wouldn't even try dude, she never talks to anyone, she always has her nose stuck in some sort of book."
But that was just the thing, she was the most beautiful person he had ever laid eyes on. He studied her as she walks through the doors of the library, the wooden things cutting him off from such a sight to see.
In that moment, it was his mission to get to know her. What could possibly go wrong right?
Hey guys, I had an idea for a story so I wanted to try it out.
Let me know what you think!
