Kelly woke up to the weather being completely opposite of what it had been the day before. It was sunny and warm, with a few puffy white clouds in the sky. She quickly got dressed, putting on a gray tank top, a red flannel, and a pair of jean shorts. Throwing her hair up into a pony tail, she went to wake up her daughter.
Patience woke up excitedly, it was the last day of school after all. She put on a light blue tank top with ruffles at the edge of the straps and a whale with sunglasses on it, as well as a pair of white shorts. Kelly then put her daughter's hair into a messy bun, hoping that would keep her cooled down throughout the day.

The two enjoyed bowls of cereal for breakfast, Lucky Charms for Patience and Reese's Puffs for Kelly. Then the pair left to get Patience to school on time. Instead of Disney songs, Patience let her mother play her music. Classic rock blared through the cars speakers, with the car windows rolled down, the mother-daughter duo had a blast.
It was a bittersweet moment when they pulled up to the school. Patience had fifteen minutes til she had to be in class, so she stayed in the car until Boston's Peace Of Mind was done playing on the radio.

"Bye, Mom!" Patience called through the open window, "Love you!" She said quickly before turning and running to join her group of friends.

Kelly readjusted her sunglasses and decided to head to the store to get some groceries as well as pick up something special for dinner, since it was the last day of school and Kaylee would be over. She was halfway there when she got a call from Jack.

"Hey, stranger." Kelly smiled as she answered the phone.

"Hey! So I have some good news and some bad news." Jack replied.

"Well let's hear it." Kelly sighed.

"Good news, I might not have to work as late as I thought I would!"

"That is a plus, so what's the bed news?"

"Well, it looks like there's gonna be two people spending the night at your place..."

"Wait, you mean-" Jack didn't let her finish.

"Yep! Kaylee and I are spending the night!" Jack said excitedly through the phone.

"You're right, this is bad news." Kelly teased.

"Oh common K, it's gonna be fun!"

"You're bringing wine then."

"Sound's like a deal." Jack said brightly.

"Alright, see you then." Kelly shook her head.

"See ya."

Kelly smiled to herself, she knew it was going to be a long night. Being in charge of three kids was gonna be a challenge. Jack was always a childish, carefree guy but when he was excited about something or when he was with his daughter, he couldn't even be considered an adult. Kelly didn't mind however, he was great with kids and a fun guy to be around. She appreciated his child-like qualities, they suited her own.

Kelly got what she needed from the grocery store, snack foods and drinks that everyone could enjoy. Figuring that pizza would be the best option for dinner, she'd oder it once everyone was at the apartment.
She made a quick stop for lunch, making sure she had time to stop at the post office before needing to pick up the girls. The post office seemed empty when Kelly arrived. There were a few cars in the parking lot but not a soul to be seen. She walked into the building, saying hello to the man working behind the counter as she walked over to her POBOX. Unlocking it, she grabbed the contents of the box. She sighed, looking through the multiple bills and magazines. She smiled when she saw a letter from her aunt, her aunt was the only family she had left that would talk to her. Kelly's parents made it clear that they didn't want her in their life anymore so she made sure to stay out of it.
Kelly turned to leave when she ran into someone, her mail scattered all over the floor.
