The blinding stadium lights bored down to reveal a high school football field buzzing with hyped players surrounded by a swarming crowd. Jimin sat in the student section, but remained separated from the large cloud of passionate students by sitting slightly to the right where a scarce amount of students were scattered. He softly smiled to himself as his eyes followed a giddy Taehyung breaking into a celebratory dance on the field. Jimin's eyes returned their attention to his sketch book that was sprawled across his lap, opened to show an incomplete drawing of Taehyung in his football jersey.

The only reason Jimin attended the football games was to witness his crush in his element and while he was there he might as well capture that in a drawing. His pencil deliberately brushed over the page leaving trails of basic outlines and reference marks as he had just started the sketch that night. Cheers from the near group of students would erupt frequently, however, they never seemed to distract Jimin from his drawing. He was completely unaware and uninterested in what was going on around him. Granted, without being engrossed in his journal he still wouldn't be able to follow the game as his sports knowledge was limited.

Suddenly, a smooth hand gently stroked Jimin's shoulder, averting his attention away from his journal and towards the source of contact.

"Long time no see, Jiminie." A familiar voice graced his ears as his eyes darted behind him to meet a girl with long, dark hair cascading over her chest, wearing a warm and endearing smile.

"Jaehee!" Jimin screamed, leaping to his feet with his journal clutched in his hand, lunging at the female to embrace her in a hug. His arms snaked around her slim waist and pulled her tightly into him as his beaming smile showed no signs of fading.

Jaehee was Jimin's long time best friend. They met in kindergarten and became inseparable from the start. All through elementary and middle school the pair would regularly have play dates and tell each other their deepest, darkest secrets. Although both were considered outcasts from the beginning, they had each other and that was all they ever needed. However, Jaehee's father got a new job in another city before her and Jimin's freshmen year of high school. This caused her to move, leaving Jimin alone through his high school years. Of course, the pair kept in touch frequently, but visiting occurrences were dwindling and most of their communication was through Skype. The last time the two had
actually been in each other's presence was over six months ago, so to have his best friend in his arms once again and call it overwhelming, that would be an absolute understatement.

"I've missed you so much! What are you doing here?" Jimin laughed hysterically as he was gushing with emotions. Jaehee stepped back and looked into Jimin's eyes with pure happiness as she continued to hold his arms with affection.

"My mom was visiting town, and I heard there was a game so I assumed you'd be here. Somehow I snuck into the student section, and let's just say that you aren't too difficult to spot in a crowd," Jaehee teased Jimin playfully as she engaged in another hug.

"I'm so happy you came!" The best friends sat down next to one another and immediately caught up, just like old times.

"So, how's your mom?" Jaehee probed Jimin as his eyes broke contact and darted to the ground.

"Not so good, but she's hanging on," he attempted to stay positive as he forced a smile.

"Jimin, I'm so sorry," Jaehee rubbed up and down his shoulder with a sympathetic gaze to comfort her best friend, "Tell her I said hello!" She decided to lighten the mood and the two continued on with their mindless banter.

"So... I can see that you're still wrapped up in Taehyung." Glancing down at Jimin's sketch, Jaehee acknowledged the obvious.

Several Skype calls back, Jimin gushed to his best friend about Taehyung. She couldn't help but notice the way his eyes lit up when he would talk about his crush, but she also couldn't help but pity him as she knew he had no chance with a varsity football player. Jaehee knew that the crush was unhealthy but even she didn't have the heart to tell him.

"Oh, yeah." A subtle blush dotted Jimin's cheeks as he shamefully closed his sketch book.

"Don't get too carried away, it would kill me to see you heartbroken," Jaehee confessed.

"Anything for my best friend," Jimin giggled as Jaehee reached up to push his glasses back up his nose. They simply smiled in the company of the other, not wanting the moment to end.

After many more hours of chatting, the game finished resulting in Jimin's school winning. He and Jaehee shared their goodbyes followed by a long hug and promises to Skype more often. The unexpected visit left Jimin's smile to remain even on the long drive home, eager to share the eventful night with his mother.
