10,000 Emerald pools - Børns

I LOATHED SCHOOL with a raw passion. It was the reason my mornings were filled with groaning and why my nerves always punctured my system.

I trailed behind the overcrowded and bombarded hallway of Weston hill, the faint sounds of giggling and groaning buzzing through my ears as I glued my gaze to my feet in motion.

I arrived to my secluded locker space, opening the narrow red door with a rigid sound of creaking piercing the atmosphere. I threw a few textbooks at the top and placed my hot lunch inside. I heard the sound of footsteps striding toward me, a chuckle escaping my lips as I was greeted by my best friend.

"Good morning, grumpy," Felicity laughed as I groaned in agony.

"Shut up, how are you so hyper on a Monday morning?" I asked, Felicity, unlocking the beaten red locker next to mine to throw in her belongings as well.

"Well," she began. "I look on the positive side of situations, my dear."

An exasperated sigh exhaled from my lips as the overly cheerful blonde entangled me in chuckles.

As I waited for Felicity to retrieve her textbooks for the day and get ourselves to class, the entire student body had to make sure they received an ounce of her attention as they all passed
her—everyone motioning a wave to her.

Felicity Moore was, in fact, the most popular girl at school. Known for her prosperity in academics and her genuine kindness. She was nothing like the pompous girls that were showcased as popular in the movies, she was just popular due to her extroverted personality and also being extremely beautiful.

The issue that was brought upon her being popular was that—as her awkward and introverted best friend—I held her back. She had many opportunities to hang out with cliques that were known, yet she somehow stuck with me, I couldn't help but admire her for being so kind.

Felicity and I strode down the hallway to class, intense gazes piercing us from the overpopulated hallway of students causing me to plant my orbs back to the ground.

I had no idea how Felicity got used to this unavoidable attention, everyone leaping out of their way just to say hello to her. She didn't let that get to her, in spite of the many times she had the chance when she knew that the whole school would drop dead for her.

"Bio this morning?" She asked, stopping in front of her class.

"Yeah sadly,"

"I've got psych, Bio sounds much more irritating," she laughed, clutching her books to avoid them from spilling out of her grasp.

"I'm gonna get upstairs before Mister Peters screeches at me." I declared, waving back to her as she walked into class.

I despised the feeling of eyes lingering on me as I walked to class, the uncomfortable feeling I suffered from radiating to the core of my body.

I knew that people talked about me; I was the awkward girl always trailing behind as a shadow to Felicity, nothing more than just a mute figure.
