Camp Fire

~Chapter 8~

The silence was intense, Luna felt like the tension could be cut by a knife, more and more silence. Did they know about Luna already? The wind blew and the fire crackled for a few more seconds until someone broke the silence.
"LOOK!" A familiar voice said. Luna looked at the place where the voice came from. It was Leo. A wave of relief crashed over her when Leo gave her a reassuring smile. Luna followed where he was pointing and looked beside her. When she did she saw Landon uncomfortable that everyone was looking at him. He had a glowing sign on top of his head. When Luna looked closer she saw the Hermes's sign The Caduceus.
     "Landon look," Ray said as she was pointing on top of Landon's head. He looked up shocked.
     "What is that, and why is it glowing?" Landon said slowly.
      "That is you being claimed," Chiron said trotting towards Landon. Then all of a sudden a group of kids started to cheer and motioned him to come over. They must have been the Hermes kids. Landon walked to the group and they started to playfully punch Landon. Landon smiled and looked the happiest he's ever been. Everyone continued to laugh and talk. Luna didn't realize that her and Ray were still standing there awkwardly. Then Luna saw Leo waving towards them. Luna started to walk towards him with Ray behind her.

     Once Luna got to Leo, he patted the Log for her and Ray to sit. They sat down and talked. Percy came over and stood right behind Luna. Some other people started to join, like Piper, Annabeth, and the boy with lightning blue eyes that Luna was guessing was Piper's boyfriend. Chiron stomped his hoof a few times to die down the Demigods. Everyone shushed each other and waited for Chiron to talk. Right next to Chiron was a slumped man, looking like he didn't want to be there. His hair was messed up and he swayed a bit.
"Hello demigods! I hope you had a great day! I would like to introduce three new demigods!. Now, how about those demigods come on up so we can introduce you to them!" Chiron said in a obvious fake happy voice. He motioned for the friends to come up. Luna, Landon, and Ray walked up to Chiron and the grumpy man. Percy and Annabeth followed behind. "This is Landon...?" Chiron gave Landon a questioning look.
     "Landon Cooper, sir," Landon said quietly so only Chiron could hear.
    "Landon Cooper, Son of Hermes!" Chiron said loudly so everyone could hear. The Hermes kids cheered as Landon smiled and walked to them. Ray was next and she went in front of Chiron.
   "Ray Eleanor, she has not been claimed yet! So she will stay in the Hermes cabin." Chiron said. Ray darted her head to Landon with a huge grin on his face. Luna rolled her eyes and walked in front of Chiron. The man who swayed actually stood still and tall as if she were his boss.
"Luna...?" Chiron looked at Luna. But then Luna remembered that she was never given a last name. She panicked. Chiron could see the panic in her eyes.
"Luna Colón!" Chiron said firmly. Luna was actually okay with that last name. She gave a deep breath. Then he continued "Daughter of..." Everyone was silent. Luna knew they knew about something but she didn't know what. Then all of a sudden people gasped. A sign glowed brightly above her. "Daughter of Poseidon!" Chiron said with a huge relief it was just Poseidon. But Luna knew it wasn't...

Luna's POV~
I looked up and saw the blue trident glowing. I smiled widely and looked at everyone. They had their mouths wide open. I was about to retreat to Leo and Percy to get away from this mess but then Chiron stopped me. I looked at Chiron confused. He was staring on the top of my head. I was thinking that Poseidon's sign was still on me and everyone was just in shock. I looked around at everyone. They backed up like they were scared like I was gonna hurt them. I look up. That's when I see it...
Artemis's sign, a Crescent Moon as the limbs of the bow and it was pure silver. I look around at everyone. I look down in horror. They would never accept me now. Will they let me stay? Will anyone ever talk to me? Will people treat me like a goddess? That's when I look at Chiron for help. He was looking down thinking. I looked at the man next to him and he was looking straight at me. He looked in my eyes and I could see that he had thoughts racing in his mind. I turned around to face the demigods. But they weren't there. The seats were empty. Everyone disappeared, I looked back at Chiron and the man, and they were gone too. Everything started to fade into a deep, deep darkness....
