Alex was just like any other high school kid, except he wasn't.
Alex was different in how he dressed. Cliche, sure.
His day always started with picking out the day's outfit. Today his outfit was a lovely pastel lilac hoodie, a white skirt and black knee high socks. Not too special, really.
He was nearly out the door when his mom stopped him, asking, "Where are your glasses?"
He couldn't believe he'd forgotten that.
After putting on his glasses, his mother drove him to school and the day carried on as it usually did.
But today was different.
In between classes, Alex kept seeing this kid.
He looked older, and definitely taller. Who was he?"Alex," Rian snapped his fingers in front of the brunette's face, "Earth to Alex?"
Finally the aforementioned boy stepped out of his mind for a moment, just a moment, to wonder what Rian wanted.
"You were daydreaming," Rian was smiling, as he always was.
"Probably dreaming about getting fucked again," Vinny chimed in. Alex didn't like Vinny very much, he was too vulgar and loud for Alex's taste.
"I'm a virgin, but thanks, I guess." Alex sighed, taking a sip of the starbucks Matt gave him earlier. He liked Matt a lot.
"What were you thinking about, anyway?" Rian wondered, his intentions were not that of Vinny's. Innocent, curious. He liked that.
"Did you notice a new guy here today?" He answered a question with a question, pushing his glasses up his face.
"I didn't, actually."
"Oh." Was all Alex had to offer before the lunch bell sounded out, signaling them to go to their next period.Alex was a sophomore at Dulaney High, so he had it pretty easy this year. That, and he was sorta gifted anyway.
It wasn't until the end of the day that he would have a run in with the mysterious man, where he bumped into Alex and caused his coffee to spill. He hadn't drank much of it, he didn't enjoy it too much.
"Oh god, i'm so sorry, are you alright?" A soft voice spoke. He looked up and was met with the kindest eyes he had ever seen, genuine concern painted on his face as he awaited Alex's answer.
"Y-yeah, i'm okay, it didn't get on me. Thank you." Alex felt like a school girl. Love at first sight? Maybe.
"I'll go find some towels, okay? Stay here." The unnamed man went off, and Alex was thankful that the halls were decently clear now, he couldn't have handled that embarrassment in front of everyone.
A moment or two later, Alex was busy packing his bag when the man returned with a few towels, cleaning up.
"You're too kind," Alex didn't mean to say it, but it was true.
"Just doing the right thing," He could hear the smile in the man's voice. "I'm Jack, by the way." he stood, sticking his hand out.
Alex was mesmerized, "Alex," he shook Jack's hand.
"Hey, it was nice meeting you, but i've gotta run. See you later." He walked off with a smile, the dirty towels in his right hand, returning them to the janitor, presumably.
Alex didn't think he could believe in love at first sight, or love at all, until today.
Maybe he was in over his head, but he could've sworn he saw Jack checking him out.
Who was Alex to say, anyway? He had never had a real relationship.Alex left the school and got into his mom's car, which was waiting outside for him.
"What took so long?" Was the first thing his mother had to ask. Of course.
"Someone bumped into me and made me spill my coffee, but it's okay, he cleaned it up. I feel bad, though." He was rambling, as he often did. He felt bad that he didn't contribute to cleaning up, but somehow, he felt it was unnecessary.
"I'm surprised you didn't stain your clothes." Isobel smiled, thankful that she wouldn't have to scrub coffee stains out of his clothes later.
"Yeah, me too."The brunette boy was trying to get his homework done but he just couldn't seem to focus. It was impossible.
He kept thinking of that man, er, Jack. He was awfully skinny.
It suited him, though. He didn't know why.
Maybe Alex was only lingering on the thought of Jack because he's surprised Jack didn't shove him into a locker or something. It's happened before, it happened the first day of freshman year.
Alex continued to work, though, until he got his homework done, then finally went to bed with Jack still on his mind.
Why couldn't he stop thinking of Jack?
He hoped he wouldn't dream of that man, since he hardly knows him and all.
But nevertheless, he did dream of Jack that night, and his morning was plagued by thoughts of "Would he think this is cute?" as he picked out his outfit for the day.
It's safe to say, Alex was in love.
