"Alex? God, again? Alex!"
Alex snapped out of his daydreaming again when he heard Rian, his cheeks flushed pink as he stuttered, "Huh, what?"
Rian rolled his eyes, shaking his head.
"You keep zoning out, dude." Matt commented.
Maybe he did, but he couldn't help it. He couldn't stop thinking of Jack.
"If you wanna talk to him, go talk to him. He's right over there." Zack added with a small smile. He meant well.
"No, it's fine," Alex mumbled. "He barely knows me."
"He'll know you if you actually go talk to him." Matt took a drink.
"Too late." Rian pointed out, noticing the tall man approaching the table.
"Hey, uh, Alex?" His hands were in his pockets, "You wanna go out for coffee after school? To, yknow, make up for yesterday?"This was a dream.
This was definitely a dream.
"Yeah, id love that."
Holy shit, it wasn't a dream.
"Great, ill see you after school, then."
Alex was about to come out of his skin, this wasn't real.
"Yo, Alex, why is it so easy for you to get laid, but you've never gotten laid?" Vinny chimed in, disrupting the peace as usual.
Alex just sighed, being the first to leave when the bell rang. He was really getting tired of Vinny. All through the rest of his classes, he watched the clock. 2:30 was when the day officially ended, and he was eagerly awaiting it.
He stopped between classes to text his mom, letting her know she didn't have to pick him up.
She asked why, and he just said he was going to Rian's house.
She trusted that.
He'd never lied to his mom before, but it felt good.2:30.
Alex was halfway to his locker and his nerves were bubbling inside of him.
As he began packing his bag, he felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, you almost ready?" Jack smiled.
Alex nodded, pulling his backpack over his shoulder and following Jack out of the building.
Jack had his own car, which was really cool.
"I forgot to ask, how old are you?" He asked, unlocking the car.
"16."
Jack nodded, "I'm 18."
Alex was excited by that. What was happening to him?
The drive to the nearest starbucks was quiet, and Alex was anxious.Alex ordered a simple mocha latte, he had no idea the specifics of coffee, it just sounded good.
"So.. Obviously you know why we're here." Jack mumbled to Alex from across the table.
Before Alex could ask why, Jack answered.
"It's kind of a date."
Alex grinned, "A date?"
Jack nodded, a half smile, half smirk crossing his face.
"You're cute. I figured this was a good way to get to you."
Okay, now Alex was definitely dreaming.
"You could've just asked me out," Alex smiled, blushing vibrantly. "I would've said yes."
Jack shrugged, standing when he heard his name.
The brunette couldn't believe it. He really, really couldn't believe it. This was a date, with a guy who genuinely thought he was cute.
This was almost too good to be true.
He shook that feeling off, though, when Jack returned, coffee's in hand.
"Thank you," Alex smiled, taking his coffee and then taking a sip. Perfect.
"So, I have a question.. Do you always dress this way?" Jack was referring to his feminine wardrobe, of course.
"Y-yeah, why?" Alex was almost scared, he didn't know why. Maybe he thought Jack was gonna jump him or something. Or worse.
"No reason. It's cute. And kinda hot." Jack smirked, taking a drink of his coffee.
Alex was blushing again, "Thank you," he mumbled as he took another drink.
This was officially the best day of Alex's life.Jack made sure to get Alex home safely, and that was that. There was no conversation of a next date, just that.
But when Alex finally settled into bed that night, he got a text from an unknown number.
"Hey cutie. How about I take you out this weekend?"
Alex blushed but was still suspicious, replying with "Who is this?"
He shouldn't have been surprised when he saw that it was Jack.
"How'd you get my number?"
"When you were in the bathroom at Starbucks earlier, I took your phone and put your number in my phone. Ta da."
The boy smiled, "How about this weekend, then? Where do you say we go?"
"I say I take you out for dinner and a movie, sound good?"
"Yeah, sounds great. I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Yeah, and, by the way, you should sit with me at lunch. My friends are cool, promise."
"I don't know.. You're a senior, i'm only a sophomore. I'm pretty young to be hanging out with a bunch of older men."
"Older by a year or two, maybe. Just sit with me tomorrow, k? Get some rest. Night."
Alex didn't think much of it, sending a "Goodnight" in response and then falling asleep. That night, Alex dreamt of Jack. It was a lovely dream, but he hardly remembers it.
The following morning, he picked out an outfit he was certain that Jack would like. A white button-up underneath a pink sweater, pulling the collar over the top of the sweater, matching the button-up with a white skirt and white knee high socks.
Yeah, he was pretty sure Jack would like this.
He grabbed his backpack and headed out, and as soon as he got to school, he had a massive grin on his face.
They had a spare 10 minutes in the morning before first period, so when Alex went to put his backpack on top of his locker, he was greeted with a familiar face.
"Hey, cutie. Sleep well?" He smiled, standing against Alex's locker.
"Yeah, thanks. What're you doing here? Not that I mind at all.." Alex cocked an eyebrow and it was hardly visible, with his hair in his face and his glasses in the way.
"Just wanted to surprise you. Figured you dreamt of me last night or something."
Alex, once again, didn't question it.
"I did, actually." He blushed. He hadn't noticed, but the entire time they had been talking, he had been drifting closer to Jack.
Before he noticed, Jack's hands were on his hips.
"I'm excited for this weekend." Alex beamed, still unaware of the hands on his hips.
"Me too," Jack smiled back, pulling Alex a bit closer. "Your mom know yet?"
The shorter boy shook his head, "I'll tell her tonight."
Jack nodded, "Good boy." The bell rang and just like that, Jack was gone.Alex's mind was hazy for the rest of the day after that, like he had been put under some kind of spell after he talked to Jack.
He didn't know what this feeling was, but he liked it. He liked it a lot.
