"OUCH!" I screamed at the top of my voice, my shout greeted by an alarmed shriek from my mother who was downstairs preparing dinner. "Are you okay sweetie?" she questioned. "Yep I'm fine mum, just the curlers!" I shouted back. I was just getting ready to go out tonight with Nat, attempting, and failing, to curl my hair. Naturally, my hair is messy curls, waves really, so in order to get it nice and smooth with ringlets, I have to first straighten, then curl it, which as you can imagine does wonders for my split ends. I don't usually make much of an effort to look good when I go out with Nat. He's seen me at my best, and my worst, I never really cared up until now. For some reason, recently I had been finding everything he did extremely attractive. The way he moved, his melodic voice, his flawless skin, the way his eyes shone when he broke into fits of laughter- oh my gosh, I don't like him do I?!

Banishing the thought from my mind, I quickly applied some blush, and walked over to my wardrobe which I flung open and groaned. I have nothing nice to wear. All my pocket money I spend on paints or pencils for my projects, (I'm going to study fine art at university and I've been completing course work for my application) so I have no money to buy any new clothes. "Oh well," I said to myself under my breath, "I suppose this will have to do." Pulling a summery white dress with embroided flowers on from the rack, I slipped it on and observed myself in the mirror. Deciding it looked a little too formal for the movies, I dressed it down with a denim jacket, picked up my bag after chucking in a couple of essentials, and danced down the stairs to wait for Nat.

DING DONG

I was already at the door before it had rung as I saw a car pull onto the drive. I swung the door open to be met by a big bear hug. "Ooohhh you're so small!" Nat said in a stupid baby voice to annoy me, he knows I hate people commenting on my height. Before I could reply, he pulled away, and I could hear him draw a deep breath before saying, "You look beautiful Liv, you really do." Meeting his eyes, I could see in them that he was telling the truth, I stood there for a while and just admired the way they sparkled and shone in a thousand different shades of blue.

"Okay then, let's be off." Nat said, breaking my beautiful silence.

"Okay then" I said, hopping into his car, "what are we going to see anyway?"

"Well I was thinking this new horror film, apparently it's super gory!" He replied, I could see a smirk appearing on his face.

"Seriously Nat? I thought we could see that new rom com, you know, about the guy and the girl who are best mates for ages then end up falling in love with each other and then the guy moves away and they have to fight to stay together?"

"Wow, okay" he said, startled, "seens as you know so much about it we'll go see that!"

When we arrived in the car park, Nat ran round to my door and opened it, pretending to be some chauffeur for someone posh. "Why thank you Jeeves" I said in my best posh accent, giggling hysterically afterwards. He draped his arm around my shoulder as we walked towards the door, and I snuggled my head into his neck, marveling at the sweet scent of his skin. When we got inside, we bought the tickets and went to get our seats. Turns out that on a Friday night, we were the only people who wanted to go and watch a rom com, and so were the only two people in the whole cinema. We chose a seat right in the back corner, where I always like to sit so I can lean against the wall. "This is nice isn't it Liv? Finally some alone time with you." He said, lingering on the word 'alone'. "Yes," I said, "it feels like we haven't spent any quality time together in ages." As I said the words, I could feel my face slowly start to get hot, and I heard Nat snort as he saw my mega blush.

We didn't talk at all through the rest of the film, and when it had finished, Nat picked up my bag for me and walked me to his car. I was so tired I could hardly speak to him on the way back, and when we finally got to my house, I was practically asleep on his lap. Although I was half asleep, I could still hear Nat talking quietly in my subconscious. "Come on sweetheart, let's get you to bed." I felt two strong hands slip their way to under my back, one sliding up to support my head as I slept. There was a little walking I think, until finally I was put back down onto the soft linen of my bed. Nat slowly slipped off my shoes and tossed them out the way, then took off my jacket and hung it somewhere. Then he pulled the duvet over my body and planted a soft kiss on my forehead. "Good night beautiful girl" I heard him whisper, "oh Liv, if only I could tell you how I felt about you." I couldn't quite process what had happened, and I heard a faint click of a door being shut, before letting myself drift into darkness.
