My heart was pounding as I turned to walk away from him. I could almost feel his eyes burning holes into my back as I went. What on earth just happened? I kissed my best friend! My best friend! Does this mean our friendship is ruined now? Will we ever be able to be friends again if this doesnt work out? Or is this even a thing? What if he only wanted to kiss me once, or now he knows how bad a kisser I am, he doesnt like me anymore!? Swiftly banishing the worried thoughts from my head, I crossed the road out of the park, before shooting a glance over my shoulder to where Nat had just been, but he had already gone. Shivering, I made my way back home, walking slowly, constantly re running what had just happened through my head. Trudging up to the door, I pushed it open with one hand and stumbled through into the kitchen. There, sat on one of the chairs with a cup of tea in hand, chatting to my mum, was Sam, my best girl friend. "Sammmyyy!" I squeaked, rushing over to give her an enormous hug. "Livvv! I missed you so bad hunny! I have so much to tell you about spain!" Sam had only just got back from a six month vacation to spain. Her father got a temporary job there so the family stayed with him until it was over. "Lets go upstairs to my room! I have so much to tell you too!" I said, trailing off slightly at the end. "Thanks for the tea Carol!" Sam shouted back down the stairs, as we ran to my room. "So," she said, flopping down on to my bed,"what do you want to know first?"
"Tell me about the guys!" I replied with a smirk.
A snort escaped her mouth and she began to tell me about her holiday."Well you see, in the first week that I got there , I was at the beach pretty much every day, hoping to find some guy to spend the time with, and I did. He was surfing while I was sunbathing, and when he got out the sea, he unzipped his wetsuit down to his hips, and oh my god you should have seen his abs! But anyway, he came over to me and told me I was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen and if he could take me out to dinner that night."
"So! Did you go!" I practically screeched at her.
"Yeah, I went. His name was Marco, he told me all about himself, then we went back to his flat for a drink." Sam said, nervously looking to the floor and playing with her thumbs.
"Omg Sam what did you do?"
"Nothing that night! I swear! But we stayed together for the whole six months and, well, on the night I told him I was leaving, we...." she said, a worried look on her face, as if I would be ashamed of what she did.
"Aahhhhhh! Omg you did it? Seriously Sam I thought you were a good girl!" I sniggered.
"Oh stop it," she replied, "you'll do it too one day! Anyway, whats been going on with you?"
"Okay," I said, taking a long deep breath," well, I went to the cinema with Nat and then I was really tired and so he put me to bed but he thought I was asleep but I wasnt and he told me he wished he could tell me how he really feels then I remembered this morning and rang him and he met me at the park and I asked him what he meant and he kissed me and I kissed him back."
"WHAT! YOU KISSED NAT! OMG LIV!"
"I know I know, but I really like him!" I sighed," all I could think about was how much I wanted him to be mine, and how much I just wanted to hold him." Sam was sat across from me with a shocked look on her face, that very slowly turned into a very very excited one."This is amazing! I knew you two would end up together!" She screamed.
"Keep your voice down!" I hissed, " Listen, I know you're excited and everything, but I really want to make this work so you can't tell anyone just yet, okay?"
"Okay," she replied," I promise."
