I watched as the Separatist Vulture droid smashed into the cliff behind me. While my hands instinctively deflected lasers, my head ducked to avoid gravel as it fell from the collision.
As always, Brinks was on my right, hitting the droids I missed and many more. His devotion to me and our mission never failed to win the battle or allow us time to escape.
We were currently back on Ryloth, attempting to fight the Separatist forces with our dwindling resources and a group of Rebel Twi'leks. Cham Syndulla had formed a tentative alliance with Master Kenobi and Windu earlier, which helped with my mission of defending the planet. The Separatists had created a blockade and had cut off my supplies from The Disparity.
My men and I needed relief but with the blockade, no help could reach us. We were starving, we were desperate, but we needed to fight.
"They're closing in!" Brinks yelled as the droids came closer and closer. Our only escape was the mountain pass behind us, which led to our hideout. If the droids got too close, then we were all doomed.
"I know! Keep shooting!" I responded. In my peripheral, I saw Cham and ducked out from the front lines so I could talk to him. My lightsaber was off, but I still had it in my hand and ready for any unseen events. I knew without saying anything that Brinks was covering me.
"Master Jedi," Cham said, "We're running out of food and water, and our heavy-weapons systems are out of power."
I had heard his worries for days, but with the blockade, there wasn't much The Disparity and her fleet could do.
"I'll contact our forces in orbit," I said to Cham before turning to my commlink, "Admiral Tokowana, this is General Pana. We're in trouble down here. We need those supplies immediately."
From his end, I could hear soldiers yelling and running and a terrible creaking noise echoing from the ship. I continued to deflect lasers with my lightsaber while my back was to the impending droid army.
