I'm back with another chapter. It's breakfast time at the Buellers. Will it be another boring meal? Not with Ferris around.
When Jeanie walked into the kitchen, she expected the chatter to stop, but everyone continued on with their conversation as if she were not in the room. To fix that situation she dropped her school bag down on one of the empty chairs.
Ferris's eyes traveled upward at and looked straight at her. "Oh, do we have a guess for breakfast this morning?" he asked, which made Jeanie roll her eyes.
"Oh, please, you know it's me," she said, and he just threw her a smirk. Neither of their parents saw it, and it was one of the reasons she had fantasies of killing him, not that she would ever do it.
"Oh, Jeanie, I didn't recognize you under that hat," he said and took a big bite of his sausage.
Jeanie sat down trying not to look at her brother. He always seemed to annoy her, even if he wasn't trying.
"Jeanie, take that hat off at the breakfast table," her mother said, but she sat there not wanting to remove it. "Now, young lady!"
Her mother said and stared her down until she complied. When she removed the hat, Ferris couldn't help but spit out his food due to hysterics. Her hair looked terrible before, but under that hat it matted to her head making it ten times worse.
Ferris was full-on laughing and in response Jeanie picked up a piece of toast and threw it at him. "Shut up!"
"Sorry, Jeanie, but..."
"It's you're fault for using all the hot water, and that stupid mouse of yours," she screamed at him.
"What did winky do to you?" he asked, picking up another piece of sausage and eating it with his hands.
"That little pest got out of his cage and chewed up the cord to my hairdryer!" she screamed as her parents both had shocked looks on their faces witnessing her tantrum.
"Jeanie, would you calm down," her mother scolded. She turned to Ferris with a stern look.
"The mouse is in her cage," he said, and raised his hands up in defense. "I swear." He made a cross with his hands over his chest and his mother's mood lightened.
"See," their mother said, looking over at Jeanie which made her even angrier. Ferris was the favorite, she knew. Anything he said had to be the absolute truth, and whatever she said was up for debate.
"Just pass the sausage," she said, as she sat back and folded her arms in defeat.
"Sorry, all gone," he said as he shoved the last piece in his mouth. Jeanie suddenly lost her appetite. Her father had sat at the table quietly reading his paper the entire time. Jeanie looked over and wore a shocked look on her face, when she saw the front page.
It read: Highschool Principal Arrested for Breaking and Entering. There was a picture of Edward Rooney with handcuffs on and two policemen escorting him away.
"Oh my god," Jeanie screeched out.
"What is it?" her father asked as she pointed to his paper.
"Look at the front page, Dad," she said pointing at the paper. He turned to it, holding it up for the rest of the family to see. "I told you I was telling the truth."
"Why would your principal break into our house?" her mother asked.
She looked over at Ferris who gave her that 'don't tell' look. She paused considering for a moment to spill the truth but stopped herself. Her mother had an impatient look on her face. "I don't know, but it was him."
Jeanie had an insistent look on her face. "Well, alright," she said, which gave Jeanie a relieved look.
"Does this mean I'm no longer grounded?" Jeanie asked, hopeful that this newfound information would get her off the hook.
"Of course not," her mother said, horrified that she would even suggest it. "Jeanie, you still skipped school, and you need to be punished for that."
"That's not fair!" she screamed. "It was only two classes, and..." She couldn't tell her mother why she had left school. It would rat out Ferris, and even if she did her parents would believe him anyway.
"Okay, since you were telling the truth, we'll cut a week off your punishment."
"That's two more weeks, and..."
"Take it or leave it," her mother said, cutting her off.
"Fine," she said and stood up.
"Oh, before I forget, I have a surprise," her mother said excitedly and looked over at Ferris. He looked confused, and their father put is paper down.
"It's outside," he said and he led them to the back door. Ferris followed his dad, trailed by his mother with Jeanie lagging behind reluctantly.
Tom Bueller reached into his pocket and pulled out the remote to the garage. There parked in the once empty space was a slightly used car. It was red in color, Ferris's favorite and his mouth dropped open.
"It's all yours, pal," his father said and gave him a quick hug.
"I wasn't expecting..."
"Well, since I sold the house to that family in Vermont I made a big commission, so after all you've been through being sick and all I thought this would make a nice get well present," his mother said with a smile and kissed him on the cheek. She handed him the keys and he was anxious to check out his new ride. "I just have one request."
"Sure, Mom, anything," he said, playing the good child.
"Drive your sister to school, at least until her punishment is over," she said, which made Jeanie angry.
It figures that her mother would do this to her, but she thought what could be worse. Being driven to school by her mother or her bother. She couldn't decide.
To Be Continued...
Jeanie's not having a good day. Not only is she grounded, but now she has to be chauffeured around by her brother. Can things get any worse.
In the next part we will meet the Volbecks, the family Katie Bueller sold the house to.
