Agent affair [Wesari AU]

Chapter 9

After leaving the warehouse, Agent Link is at the hospital, visiting Flitz.

He's been going to see him at least twice a day, to check for any change.

He walks up to the lady at the front desk.
"Hi. Amra Ricketts?" He asks.
"I'm sorry but he can't have any visitors at the moment. He's just had a heart attack and his condition is critical" She replies.

Wes looks shocked and tears form in his eyes.
"We will call you if there's a change but it would be best if you didn't see him until next week" The lady tells him.

Link nods and silently leaves the hospital.

He goes to the front of the building and rests his back against the wall.

He then pulls out his phone and the piece of paper.

The phone's dial tone rings in his ear until it stops and he hears her.
"Hello? Who's calling?" She asks.
"It's Link. I'll do it" He replies.
"Glad you came to your senses" She states.

Wes can hear the smile in her voice.
"No time for that. What's our plan?" He adds, quickly.
"Not on the phone. Anyone could be listening. Meet me at the old, abandoned LA parking lot, tomorrow at 09:15am. Don't tell anyone and come alone. We'll discuss it then" She replies.
"Alright. 09:15. Abandoned LA parking lot. Got it" Link agrees.
"See you then" Atomic says and hangs up.

Link puts his phone away and walks over to his motorcycle.

He sits on it and looks back at the hospital.
"Sorry Flitz but I need to take down Ian. Whatever it takes" He says, regret clear in his voice.

He revs the engine, drives out of the hospital parking lot and away.

The next morning, Wes rides his motorcycle into the abandoned parking lot, stops and waits.

He arrived at 09:12 so he might be on time.

He then hears a motorcycle engine, heading his way and sees someone on a motorcycle, ride in the same way he did.

The person stops right next to him and once the dust cleared, he sees it's Agent Atomic.
"Do have a knack for making a tense entrance?" Link asks, jokingly.
"Not all the time but I like to show off" She replies, smirking.

He smirks back for a minute until he remembers why they're here and puts on a serious face.
"What's our plan on Ian?" He asks her.
"Glad you asked. I don't have much information on him but I was able to get a memory stick with his profile" She replies, serious.

Wes was confused on that.
"Where did you get a memory stick with his profile?" He asks confused and suspicious.
"6 days ago, I went to HMJoes and snuck in to get some info on his employees" She explains.

Wes then looks shocked then angry at her.
"You! You were the one that got to it first!" He exclaims, pointing at her.
"What?" Atomic asks, confused and worried.
"Agent Gemini went to get that info but someone had beaten him to it and comprised him so he got shot and is now in a coma AND just had a heart attack! Now I know that it's because of you!" Link yells, furiously.

Mari now looks shocked and shows him empathy.
"Link. I'm so sorry. I had no idea" She apologies.
"Just don't. My best friend might die because of you" He snarls.
"Link. I honestly don't know what I can do about it but answer me" She says.
"I shouldn't have called you for the team up. I would never forgive myself if I worked with Gemini's killer" He snarls, revving his motorcycle.
"No! Please!" She exclaims.

Link cuts the engine, listening.
"You have no idea how sorry I am. And if I knew, I probably would've helped him but I need your help with this. We could do anything with our results and when we succeed, you can help your friend and you'll never have to see me again. I want to help you and him but I can't if you don't help me" Atomic tells him.

Wes lets her words sink in and thinks about the right decision.

He then looks at her pleading expression and sighs.
"I'm in but for Gemini" He tells her.
"Thanks" She replies with a nod.
"So, the plan" Link says to remind her.
"Oh right! I've got two options. We run in, guns blazing, hoping we kill all his workers and guards or we do it stealthily, knock him out with liquid ecstasy and decide what to do with him after" She explains.
"I think we should go stealthy" He replies.
"Stealthy is our option but we still need information on him and his whereabouts" Mari says.
"We could question some of his employees at my agency" Wes suggests.
"But what about your coworkers and boss?" She asks him.
"We can sneak in at 02:00am and be out before 04:00" He informs her.
"Ok. You free to try it tomorrow night?" She asks.
"I shouldn't be scheduled for any missions that late" He replies.
"Ok then. Text me where we'll meet before 02:00. Keep it quiet and we'll go in" Atomic says.
"Got it. See ya tomorrow" Link says.

Atomic gives him a smile then revs up her motorcycle engine and leaves.

Wes watches as her silhouette leaves then starts his own engine and leaves the abandoned parking lot.
