Chapter 11

The next day, Link is getting himself ready for the outing with Atomic.

He doesn't know if should call it a date because he asked her if she wanted to do something with him.

He starts putting on some clothes.

He then texts her and asks if she's ready then leaves his home and gets on his motorcycle.

He drives to a KFC and sees her and has his breath taken away when he sees her look.

He stops right in front of her and just stares.

She walks up to him with a small smile until she notices him staring and stops, smile fading.
"What are you staring at?" She questions him.
"Uh. I just. I've never seen you not wearing your spy uniform" He replies.
"Yeah, it's rare for me to wear normal clothes" She says, looking down at her outfit.
"Well, you look great" Link compliments, smiling.

Atomic smiles back.
"Thanks. You look pretty flashy yourself" She comments.

She then gets on the back of his motorcycle and looks unsure.
"If I'm honest, I'm more used to riding my own motorcycle than riding on the back of someone else's" She informs him.
"Just hold on and we'll be off it soon" He replies.

Mari hesitates but wraps her arms around him then they speed off.

They soon arrive at a deserted beach and walk along the sand.

Mari then looks at the sun, in the distance.
"It's real nice here" She says.
"Yeah, I thought this would be a good place to hang out while laying low" Wes tells her.
"What made you become an agent?" She suddenly asks him.

Link looks at her, surprised and confused.
"What?" He asks.

She then stops and sits on the sand.
"Why did you become an agent?" She asks again.

He sighs and sits down, next to her.
"I wanted to do something different so I found the agency, took the training and mainly became a desk agent. I wasn't much of a field agent because with my size, I fitted backup attack missions and substitute for agents not available. Such as Gemini" He explains.
"Does your family know?" Atomic asks him.
"Only my brother because he works there too" He replies.

Mari drops her head and hugs her legs.
"Non of my family know about my job. They've heard about my reputation but not knowing it's actually me" She says, quietly.
"I know how you feel with not letting them know" Link sighs.
"Link, is this right?" She asks him.
"Is what right?" He asks back.
"Going after Ian ourselves? I mean, I was determined about it but..." She trails off.
"This is right. We'll get in our bosses' good books, I can help Gemini and you'll become more than a legendary agent" He replies.
"I know but that guy, David is right. Ian's got good allies and resources. He can escape from right under our noses or get out of lock up in less than a minute" She states.
"Then we got more to take down" Link says.

Atomic looks very unsure as she looks at him.
"We could do all this work and all for nothing" She tells him.
"I get that so we'll have to come up with a foolproof plan" He replies.
"And I think I just wanna relax right now" She says, smiling a little.
"Me too" Wes says, smiling back.

They then remain quiet and watch the sun set until Mari breaks the silence.
"I never got your real name" She states.
"And I never got yours" He replies.
"I'll say mine if you say yours" He proposes.
"And I won't tell anyone if you don't" She proposes.
"Deal" He nods.
"Name's Wesley Johnson but I prefer Wes" Link says.
"Name's Mariko Takahashi but stick with Mari" Atomic says back.
"Mari. Beautiful name" He smiles.
"Wes. That's pretty unusual but I like it" She smiles back.

They stare into each other's eyes for a while then look at remainder of the setting sun.

Ok. I have a confession to make.
I haven't planned the mission on going after Ian. So can I please have your suggestions and I'll make it come true.
It can go any way, either catching Ian straight away or he escapes.
