Peter Did it

Chapter 8

Elijah arrived to an empty room with coffee and a bag in hand. the door had been unlocked and he already knew what happened. He scanned the room quickly then sat on the bed. He thought to himself 'well this is just great, lost a patient...technically two if I'm counting Peter as a patient, which I am' Elijah ran a hand through his hair before standing and going to the door. He assumed Peter had some kind of plan and he hoped it had nothing to do with injuring Piper. He closed the door behind and just hoped he found Piper and Peter before any of the other doctors did because that would get him in trouble. Walking through the halls he tried his best not to look like something was wrong although he was kind of scared. Elijah heard chitter behind a door...multiple children....the playroom. maybe they were in there? Wouldn't hurt to check. He opened the door and a few heads turned to look at him but soon went back to playing. These were clearly the more stable children. there were maybe ten in the room and that included Peter sitting in the corner, whom no one had seen, looking amused. He looked over at Elijah and waved and Elijah nodded his head to the door before walking out, Peter following. Once they were out of ears reach Elijah quickly turned to Peter and whispered harshly "where is she?" Peter giggled "hiding. you interrupted our game. hide and seek. I'm the seeker she's the hider. she had wanna hope its a good spot she's already lost two rounds" Elijah frowned. This doesn't sound as innocent as he's making it out to be "what happens if she loses?" Peter just giggled and Elijah could tell it was nothing good. "hey! I have an idea, how about you play with us? if you find her before I do I'll leave her alone. But if I find her before you do...well..." There was clearly no way of compromising with the boy. Peter did not compromise. Elijah frowned then nodded "fair enough Peter, ill play" Peter looked rather happy about that, genuinely. He ran off and Elijah headed to the front desk knowing how to find Piper. He saw the lady at the front desk and cleared his throat making the lady look up at him "can I help you?" Elijah nodded "I'm afraid I'm missing my patient could you please make sure everyone know I'm looking for her? Patient #358?" the lady nodded before typing away on her computer. Elijah chuckled. This was gonna be easier than he had thought. He just had to wait. After maybe ten minutes of waiting he saw peter come out from the hallway, spot him then chuckle "haven't found her yet then? why are you just standing there? give up already? guess I was right, you really don't care about her at all" Elijah really couldn't respond because he was around people. It would look strange, him talking to seemingly no one. Peter left and Elijah made his way back to the room to wait for Piper to be found. After a while he heard the familiar sound of screaming from a certain little girl. The female doctor from this morning had found her it seems. she had piper in a straight jacket which seemed to be distressing the young girl. "can we get her out of that? its hardly necessary" the doctor frowned "I found her in the kitchen hiding in a cabinet under the sink pulling at her hair. she was terrified, saying something about a Peter? is that another patient in your care?" Piper was crying but trying to keep quiet looking around fearfully. Elijah shook his head taking pipers arm and pulling her towards him starting to get her out of the jacket "Peter is a voice in her head of sorts. its something I'm trying to get under control" the doctor nodded before turning to leave. Elijah stopped her "do you mind if I ask your name? I've seen you twice today and I'm starting to get a little curious" the doctor smiled a little "Doctor Waters. you can call me Heidi." Elijah went to introduce himself but Heidi stopped him "I already know who you are, Boston. I suggest you get back to work" and with that she left. Elijah watched her leave before hearing Piper start to fuss seeing as Peter had arrived with a pout "you cheated you had help! I want a rematch" Elijah shook his head "unfortunately I cannot allow that to happen anytime soon. now did you hurt her during the other two rounds you said happened? don't lie to me I can always ask Piper" Elijah got the jacket off of her and she clung herself to Elijah who didn't object. Peter frowned starting to look peeved "I didn't touch her I simply scared her" Elijah looked down at Piper who slowly shook her head "you're a liar..." Peter took a threatening step toward his sister "don't you dare call me that! I am not a liar I did NOT hurt you in any way so don't YOU lie" Elijah set Piper down who very clearly didn't want to be left to comfort herself. He grabbed Peter by the arm who started to curse the way a ten year old shouldn't. Elijah sat the boy on the bed "you can sit there. move and ill bring you back. I believe Piper when she tells me you hurt her and I'm not letting that go unpunished. you are one twisted little boy" Peter was fuming at this point and Piper was crying scared by the looks she was being given from her brother. "I don't think you should make him sit.." before she could finish Peter had kicked Elijah in the stomach. hard. Like a grown man would kick another man only the other man was a whole lot smaller and weaker and lighter and...you get it. Elijah fell backwards and peter next went for piper who began to scream. Peter had her pinned against the wall hands wrapped around her throat and yelling at the top of his lungs "you are nothing! how dare you try and talk back to me! you're the biggest suck up I've ever seen! you say I'm the terrible excuse for a human, look at yourself! there's nothing stopping me from ripping out your thro-" well there was one thing and that was Elijah pulling him off of the girl who sucked in air. Peter kicked and swore but Elijah now knew not to let go. he had peters arms restricted so all he could do now is wait the tantrum out. Piper was curled on the floor far from the two, crying and shaking. Elijah would have to comfort her in a second. after what seemed like ages Peter had finally calmed down enough to be let go. he was breathing heavy, which was unnecessary considering he had no reason to be breathing but Elijah didn't comment about it. Peter went to the ceiling which seemed to be where he went after an outburst. Elijah went to Piper who was still shaking and sat next to her. she looked at him but said nothing and continued to cry herself out. There didn't seem to be anymore tears left so she just made little noises here and there. Eventually she fell asleep against him and he put her into her bed causing Peter to scoff "I don't see why she always has to be the good guy....I'm not always bad you know. She's not always good either. You should listen to the way she speaks to me when were alone she's really mean" Elijah ignored Peter not sure who is being honest. In the whole of things, they are both ten year olds. they both aren't sure why any of this is happening and the only person they can take it out on is each other. well...now they have Elijah as well but it seems he was only fuel to this. Piper it seems is attaching herself to Elijah to make herself seem the more likable of the two which is clearly making Peter mad which causes him to lash out violently because he knows no other way to deal with his anger. Piper knows what she is doing and she is doing it well. she makes excuses for things she's done and blames it on Peter because he is an easy target. thinking about it now makes Elijah realize how much he assumed of Peter. he only saw the boy mad or quiet and that was mainly because Piper would do something to annoy him. she knows how to push his buttons. If he was going to treat them both as patients he had to stop taking sides. Tomorrow he was gonna take Peters side, in reason of course, just to see how Piper would react and to see if he had actually figured out her plan or if he was overthinking all of this.
