chapter 7

*jaedens pov*

i grin at my phone. im going on date with river. ive wanted to ask her for so long but i never thought she felt the same way. truth be told, i didnt think she was over finn.
but now im standing in front of a mirror with a smile stuck to my face.
"hi river, you look lovely"
i say out loud, to be completely honest, im very nervous.
"stop jaeden! pull yourself together!!" i say myself. i shake it off.
i breathe in deeply, calming myself down.

i have a new shirt on, it's blue and a fresh pair of jeans. my dad walks past and he smiles.
"you look smart, where you going? it's getting late" he asks and i hesitate
"i have a date" i say and he smiles
"ah, do you need me to drop you off?"
i shake my head, "no, I'm good thank you"
"oooo jaedens got a date" hayley sneers, giggling childishly.
"shut up hayley" i say is annoyed but i can't help he smirk that appears on my face.
"what that's not fair dad, you said i can't date anyone until i was 30!!"
my dad snots finding her hilarious
i roll my eyes, "yeah that's because you're a little girl"
my sister glares at me, "um im nearly an adult"
i look at her, "you're 10"
she rolls her eyes and stomps off.
"mum!!"

I finish getting ready and slip on my black pumps. i search under the bed for my bad id filled with food to take with me, i was going to have a picnic date with her. id planned it so many times in my head, watching out for rainy days and taking note of when she was busy and when she was free. i just hope today goes to plan.
i swing the bag over my back and leave quietly, my mum kissing me on my forehead as i go.
"bye! have fun and be home by 8!" she calls and i nod.
it's just gone 6:30 and the sun is setting nicely, casting a golden glow on the park field.

i spot river walking across the bridge in the park.
"wow" slips from my mouth, she looks beautiful.
she's wearing a striped shirt with green overalls. she's got black boots on and a necklace dangling neatly round her neck. it glimmers brightly as the sun hits it.
she smiles widely when she makes eye contact with me. i smile back, my heart fluttering.

"hi, wow river you look amazing" i say and she blushes.
"thank you" she says and she brushes my jacket shoulder
"you don't look too bad yourself" she says and i chuckle.
i turn and look, but of course I've forgotten the freaking blanket to sit on.
"is everything okay?" she asks, watching me frantically search for the non-existent blanket.
"yeah...but ive forgotten the blanket to sit on, no fear! look" i whip off my jacket and place it next to me, "there! sit" i smile at her and she laughs
"are you sure? i don't want to ruin your jacket" she says, delicately stepping over the arm of the jacket.
"im positive" i nod and she sits.
"so, how was your day?" i ask and she giggles
"it was great, but harper went out on a date with jack today so that was painful" she says and i laugh
"painful?"
"yeah, me and harper have this running joke that because she's younger than me, im like the "mom" friend, but we both know she is" river laughs her beautiful laugh.
"mmm makes sense" i laugh as i pour her some juice, she takes a sip, placing it next to her.
"this is lovely" she comments and i smile
"you're lovely"
"way to be cheesy jaeden" she giggles but i know she loved my compliment. i laugh and hand round the food id prepared. i made her heart shaped chocolate, honestly, it's sounds ridiculous easy, melt chocolate, pour it in the silicone case and put it in the freezer.

but if you're jaeden lieberher it's incredibly difficult. i can't tell you the amount of times i burnt the chocolate.

we sit and laugh and talk. it slowly starts to get dark, the sky erupting colours of red and orange. i slide over closer to her and she sits smiling. being with her makes me feel happy, she makes me happy. she is the best thing that's happened to me.

"the sky's beautiful isn't it?" She comments

you're beautiful. i don't say it out loud.

she turns to face me, waiting for my answer. i realise how close our faces are.

should i kiss her?

i lean in, our faces inches apart.

suddenly i hear someone muttering, singing.

"what can i say except, you're welcome? for the tides..." he's singing quietly and he stops.

"hi guys!"
we jump apart, flinching violently.
"hello wyatt" i sigh, and river giggles.
"my fellow friends! how are you?"
"why are you speaking like that?" i ask laughing at him
"oh, no reason" he says, fiddling with rubix cube he had in his hand.
we sit awkwardly, he looks back up at us.
"oh, you wanna try?" he holds out the cube.
i shake my head, sighing "no wyatt, i don't want to play with your rubix cube"
"ok" he says simply, shrugging.

i clear my throat loudly, "so can we help you wyatt?"
his attention is on us again, "oh, were you two? is this a? nahhhh" he says, pointing at us.
river laughs and i can't help but laugh at the curly haired boy standing in front of us.
"oh...I see what's happening" he starts and i see river look at me shocked, i shake my head and sigh because i know what's coming.

"you're face to face with greatness at it's strange" he comments simply.
"um ok?" river laughs
"he's quoting maui, the song, you're welcome?" she laughs loudly.
"well yes duh" he says sitting down next to us.
"ah picnic, how nice" he says picking up a sandwich off the plate.

"so, how has you're day been?" he asks, stuffing his face.
"great, thanks wyatt" i say flatly.

"well what can i say except, you're welcome?"

honestly wyatt has a great taste in films😂
his obsession with maui is great😩 also, he kind of ruined, no he did ruin jaeden and rivers date 😂😂
