to the stars

To the stars:

While you twinkle so bright,
At night, I bleed.
     I hide. They seek.
     They speak. I listen.

At dawn, you're gone
Still, I smile. I laugh. I joke.
I am here.

Still. They are too.

So I wait for you.
At night, to twinkle again.

Only to fade away,
Unto the day.

And so, I say:

Goodbye, my lovely stars.
I'll wait, and I won't go far.
