gatekeeper

The gate that guards my thoughts
Stands proud and high as mount's should be.

The steel that makes it,
Shines black as pandemonium.
Like the galaxy, however,
there's always the glint of stars
To never make it too blunt.

Ironically enough, the gatekeeper
is a small child:
Ignorant and incompetent;
wears a uniform that's fitted for someone older.

Bolder. Better.

He wears shoes he struggles to fit.

He carries a spear way too tall, way too sharp,
And way too
heavy.

Still, he stands guard.

For who else should but him?

Nonetheless, realization comes bare in truth: none of it matters.
He guards a worthless mansion!

And so, he cries.
With tears that never really made it to his cheeks.
With fears that never really made it through the cracks.

Until now,
he stood his ground.

For what else is there to do?

What else indeed.
