Jamie sat in silence on the roof of the Millennium Falcon, the only place she felt at peace. When she was younger, and her father wasn't absent all the time, she would often sit on the top of the Falcon and watch the sun set in the distance. The sun had already set, though, and the darkness of the sky reflected how she felt, the only light in her life coming from millions of miles away.

Jamie could remember the first time she felt the darkness. Not the type of darkness that came from the sky, but the darkness within that surrounded them all and engulfed her. It was her tenth birthday, and it was a moment she could never forget. It was also the first time she had heard her mother use the word Vader.

"Hey, Jamie." The planets resident young primadonna, Mae Venn, called. Jamie tried to ignore her, but Mae was persistant. "Jamie." Jamie stopped and turned around, a fake smile on her faces even at a young age she gave zero shits.

"Hey, Mae, you okay?" Jamie asked politely, turning around to face her. Facing her, Jamie could see that Mae wasn't okay. "What's wrong?" Mae looked around nervously and grabbed Jamie's arm.

"You know Poe Dameron?" Mae whispered. Jamie raised her eyebrows, silently telling Mae that of course she knew him. "He's been talking about Ben and your dad in a," Mae paused, looking for the right words to use. "Really bad way."

Jamie stiffened and her eyes grew dark. She was fuming, which was quite an amusing sight for any onlooker - a ten year old, furious. Jamie didn't need to say anything, and Mae lead her to where Poe was sat.

"Ah, the other Solo has decided to join us." He said, a round a snickers erupting from the people he sat with. "Did Mae tell you what we were talking about? Would you like to join us?" Jamie's face remained fixed in a suitable expression, and Poe titled his head in confusion.

"I'd like to talk to you." She said, glaring silently at the older boy. He was thirteen at the time and hadn't realised that she would become his worst enemy and closest friend. "Alone." A chorus of mocking 'ooohs' began as Poe feigned thinking about it before standing up and following Jamie.
