Over the next three years, Han spent every second he was on D'Qar teaching Jamie how to fly. The two built up a bond that was maintained throughout his long absences and Ben's unannounced visits, but all good things would eventually come to an end. Han would occasionally take a break, and would allow Jamie to take Antonia, a girl who Jamie was friends with, to the next system over (under the watchful eye of Chewie, of course, he wasn't that irresponsible). On Jamie's 16th Birthday, Han gave her her very own X-Wing, with the strict condition she didn't tell Leia and that she didn't ask how he got it.

Han taught Jamie the basics and soon enough she was flying as well as, maybe even better than, the older recruits. Jamie barely spoke to Poe anymore, but she didn't really mind, Antonia was great company and she spent most of her time with her or flying. Eventually, about seven months after her 16th birthday, she stopped talking to her father, and she turned her love and adoration towards her mother. Leia had taken to teaching her daughter how to be a diplomat, and the two quickly grew closer than Jamie and her father had ever been.

She was 17 when her mother gave up protesting her flying and gave her a job. A position in the Blue Squadron as Blue Three, an unwelcome shock to the members already present. They grew to like the Solo, and after two months or so none of them could remember what life was like without her. An incident a week before her 18th birthday, however, would change all of that.

"Solo." Someone sais from behind her. It was Poe. The two had grown closer over the years, but Poe deliberately avoided learning her name, referring to her as Blue 3 or Solo. "I'm headed out to celebrate leaving the teenage years behind, want to join me?" He asked with a smile.

"I'm a, underaged and b, busy, so no." She shot back, leaning against her X-Wing, which now was decorated in blue instead of the grey streaks it had when her father first gave it to her. "Besides, I have duty tomorrow and that isn't any fun, so I'd to actually have a hangover doing it." Poe nodded, he'd briefly forgotten she was three years younger than him. "But have fun."

Poe nodded, a slight frown on his face. Neither of them knew that that was the last time they'd see each other for a while, and so they continued about their business as usual. Jamie shook her head and went back to checking her engines. The hangar was silent, the only noise present was the sound of her wrench and occasional beeps from her BB droid.

"Hello, Jay." Came the voice of her brother. Jamie dropped her wrench and clutched her chest, her breathing at a fast pace. Ben raised his eyebrows at her, slightly amused.

"Jesus, Shorts." She said, the affectionate nickname which mocked his height diffusing the tension between the siblings. It wasn't applicable anymore, as he was almost as tall as her, but she still used it. "You scared the crap out of me." Ben lowered his head, a slight smile breaking out into his face. "Does Mom know you're back?"

"Not yet, I haven't seen her." He admitted, his usually still hands fidgeting in front of him. Jamie looked at him him briefly, before bending down to pick up her wrench. She put it in the box and turned back to look at Ben, his foot tapping impatiently which was odd. He was usually quite patient, he was the perfect Jedi. "I wanted to talk to you."

"What about, Shorts?" She asked, grabbing a cloth and wiping the engine grease from her hands. Ben took a deep breath in and Jamie braced herself for whatever revelation that was about to come from him.

"Did Mom ever tell you about her father?" He asked slowly, choosing his words carefully. Jamie shook her head and went to speak but Ben stopped her. "I don't see why she would, I don't know why I asked." Jamie give him a look that screamed 'seriously?'. "Her father was Darth Vader." Jamie froze.

"What did you just say, Ben?" She said, and Ben noticed how she'd dropped the nickname, something she did in a serious situation.

"I said-" Ben went to repeat what he had said but Jamie cut him off with a glare and corrected him.

"I know what you said, I'm hoping it isn't true, and you're joking." Jamie said in an almost threatening tone. Deep down she knew it was true, and she guessed she'd always known. It made sense, her mother had said there was too much Vader in her all those years ago.

"Why would I joke about this?" Ben stated casually. He's foot had stopped tapping and he'd returned to his Jedi posture, but no matter how much time passed Jamie still thought he looked drowned in his robes. "That's all I wanted to say." He continued, before turning around and walking towards the exit of the hangar. Jamie stood still, dumbstruck.

"Oh and one more thing," Ben called back over his shoulder. "Dads leaving for Jakku in an hour, he won't be back for a while." Jamie didn't see why that mattered, neither of them had seen their father in months, and after he lost the Millennium Falcon in the most dishonourable way possible, neither of them really wanted to. "That, and Antonia is looking for you."

Jamie closed her eyes, and after a minute or so of collecting her thoughts, she opened them and went to look for her mother. She almost ran to the command room, gaining strange looks from her fellow pilots. Blue Leader, Darron Criss, attempted to talk to her but she shrugged him off, something she'd later regret. She stopped at the command room doors, allowing herself to breath for a moment. The doors opened, and she entered in silence.

Her mother looked at her, smiling slightly. It took Leia a few moments before she fully understood the gravity of the situation, and recognised the meaning behind the look on her daughters face. She sighed, and gestured for Jamie to side down. Jamie remained standing, silently rebelling against the lie of a life she'd been fed her whole life.

"I guess Ben told you what he discovered." She said, her confident façade disappearing. Jamie nodded, her face briefly softening. "I kept it from you because I didn't want you getting hurt. You better take a seat." Leia said, preparing to explain the Skywalker legacy to her daughter.
