Twilight Retires

    Finally, the house was free from portals and was also fixed. I patted Twilight on the neck.

"There we go you think the house looks better?" I asked Twilight

    I expected Twilight to whinny or neigh like she normally does when I say something to her in a happy sounding voice, but no she just dropped her head down slowly and ate some grass.

"You okay Twilight?" I asked

    I called up the vet just to be safe. When she arrived she took a look at Twilight.

"She is just old, might be time for her to retire." She said hopping into her truck

"Okay, Thanks," I said handing her the money for the checkup.

     The vet grabbed the money and left. I turned to Twilight and patted her on the head.

"Well guess there is no more work for you...ever," I said

    I grabbed a book and sat in the pasture, reading to the horses, I wanted it to be a nice day for Twilight. I  wanted her not to feel the slightest bit sad or guilty about retiring. So I stayed with her and Midnight that day. Lucky came to hear the story a bit as well. After a while of reading, I put on a halter and lead on both Midnight and Twilight and headed out for a walk. We walked over to the lake and ate lunch there. I loved Twilight, and I was worried that very soon Twilight would be leaving the farm... I was going to miss her, and I knew Midnight and Lucky would too. 

    After lunch, I brought Twilight back to the pasture. I also realized I had not put some fresh hay and straw into the horse's stalls. I grabbed some straw from the hayloft and set it down in two of the stalls. There was eight, and I wanted to use the rest for something, I just did not know what.

    A few hours later I put the horses back in their stalls. I thought back to all the abused horses that were with Twilight. Who did not get a home because they were too dangerous and afraid. Then I had an idea...
