"I can't believe I agreed to this" Julia giggled as she practically dragged Steve to the front of the building. As soon as they entered Steve spotted the large banner that said career day. Since technically S.H.I.E.L.D. was no longer existing Carmen didn't find it fit to come to career day. As soon as Julia heard that she begged Steve to come so she could show of the HER Dad was Captain America.
"Your slow" Julia grunted as she tugged on his brown leather jacket sleeve. Steve chuckled as he looked down at the girl.
"You didn't just bring me because you want to shove it in Jenny Larson's face did you?" Steve asked and Julia stopped and moved Steve to the side. He had already been running late because he met with Sam, Nick Fury, Carmen, and Natasha at his Fury's fake grave.
"Partly but today it also my last day before I move to New York. I gotta give these losers something to remember me by" Steve laughed at her response as she finally pulled him in the classroom and shoved him near the other Mom's and Dad's before sitting in her seat.
"You must be Julia's Dad. It's nice of you to join us" Mr. Robel said as he watched the two enter the classroom.
"Happy to be here" Steve nodded and Julia lightly giggled in her seat. Jenny turned around to look at her and Julia quickly composed herself as the girl glared. Lucas Dietrich's Dad finished off his presentation about plumbing when Mr. Robel looked on his list to see the next parent.
"Alright up next we have Julia's Dad" the kids all clapped as Steve moved to the front of the room and Julia sent him a thumbs up. She was a very devious little girl.
"Hello everybody" silence followed as Steve spoke and Julia lightly snickered to herself as he gave an unsatisfied look. The last time he stood in front of a crowd of kids they cheered him on for punching Hitler in the face. This crowd was new. Very new.
"I'm in a very uncommon line of work. I'm a Superhero" Mr. Robel stood at this as the kids around the room started to whisper.
"Sir you don't have to do this because-" Steve held a hand up to the man as he dropped his black duffel bag. He quickly unzipped it and all the kids leaned forward as he pulled out the round vibranium shield and helmet with the large A on the front of it. Wows fell from the crowd and Mr. Robel quickly cowered back.
"I'm Captain America" the parents looked on stunned and all the color drained from Jenny Larson's face. Kids hand flew in the air as she turned to look at Julia who sat there smugly.
"How old are you?" Alyssa Bernadette yelled out from the crowd and Steve chuckled.
"I'm 95" the kids all giggled and started whispering again. Steve pointed to Zay Miller who had his hand raised.
"Can I hold you shield?" Steve chuckled before motioning him up. He quickly scrambled out of his seat and Steve helped him put the straps on his arm. Once Steve let go the weight caused him to almost drop it but he quickly caught it.
"Woah" all the hands flew up in the classroom and Steve laughed.
"Make a line" he told them and all the kids flew from their seats to stand behind Zay. Jenny stood and turned to Julia who sat in her seat.
"I was wrong. Im sorry" Julia nodded before looking over at Steve.
"My Dad doesn't like bullies" she replied and Jenny looked over at the tall man. Julia watched the fear spread across her face and Steve noticed the two silently chatting. "Don't ever make assumptions about me and my family again"
Jenny quickly nodded before rushing over to the back of the line. Julia spotted Steve giving her a worried look but she just smiled. She was the luckiest girl in the world. Slowly she gave him a thumbs up as she sat there with absolute pride.
