"she really agreed to stay with enid?" carl asked mikey as he brought in jade's fish.
"yeah," he placed his hands on his hips. "two teenage girls in a house alone. woohoo for us. maybe my mom will let me stay here too."
"well, if everyone's moving in i wanna do it too," carl let out.
"hey," jade let out as she came downstairs. "hey, my fish is still alive."
"i wasn't gonna let him die," carl replied.
"no, i know..." jade said and looked back at carl, who was making a face. she looked back to the fish. "look at the little fishie."
"right," carl replied sarcastically as jade took the fish back upstairs.
"i'm gonna take a shower," she shouted down to them.
"hey, don't drown," mikey called back.
"wow ahaha my name's mikey. i'm so funny hahaha," jade mocked as she walked into the room.
"so, i'm guessing she hasn't found out?" mikey asked, looking back at carl and sat on the couch. "man, we need to get some video games in here."
"no, she doesn't know," carl said, going to the kitchen.
"how do you know?"
"what do you mean?"
"well," mikey raised his eyebrows, not understanding what carl didn't understand. "how do you know she doesn't know? you do know that she went to talk to your dad last night, right?"
carl stopped and looked at him. "well, how do you know that?" he asked.
"because... she told me?" mikey pointed out.
"please make sure you clean up after yourselves," enid said as she walked in and noticed the boys. "but hey guys."
"enid, has jade said anything about me at all since last night?"
"umm no, you're kind of never the center of our attention," enid answered, going upstairs.
carl and mikey look at each other. "well, there you have it," carl said. "i think i'm all right."
"right," mikey nodded. carl scratched the back of his neck and looked around. was he screwed?
"are you sure she didn't say anything?" carl asked enid again as she came back downstairs.
