An: yeah so I decided to go with the angsty fluff route instead of the SMUT. So enjoy lol

Sorry to the heathens that wanted steamy beach sex ;p

The beach was a safe haven.

The sandy shore was barren all for one body, of which belonged to Iida, who stood just far enough away from the water so his shoes wouldn't get wet.

His U.A. uniform was replaced with a simple white button up and khaki shorts, which was strange since it was the middle of autumn, but I didn't find myself questioning it as I left my jacket, bag, and eyepatch on the passenger seat of my car to join him.

I walked down the small slope from the parking lot and toward Iida, who still stood with his back to me as I approached him. I felt a smile tug at my lips as I hugged him from behind. He breathed in sharply suddenly as I startled him and I snickered as his warm hands made contact with my bare arms.

"Hello to you to." He laughed softly as I tightened my grip.

I didn't say anything to that, but sighed against his back instead. Even with him this close to me, I couldn't help but think of all the bad things that could happen if Dream Walker happened to be nearby; if he happened to see me.

This was a risk I was unsure of wanting to take, but I was given little time to really think about it before Iida turned around to wrap his arms around me. He didn't ask any questions, probably knowing the reason for my silence already, and just held me.

I let out a smooth breath whilst the warmth of his body seeped into my naturally cool skin. I didn't realize how much I wanted his touch until that moment, when I was consumed by his muscular arms and comforted by his steady heartbeat.

I squeezed my eyes shut as the comforting silence dragged on. Iida's hand came up to my hair and he gently brushed his fingers through it. I probably would have been lulled to sleep if I wasn't standing.

"Hard day?" He finally asked. My eyes opened again and stared down at the darkening sand. I felt my heart skip a beat at the realization that the sun was setting.

"Yeah." I replied sharply, pulling away from him as my gaze filtered up to my car.

"What's the matter?" He asked me, taking up my hand in his and lacing our fingers together.

I turned my head back to him and sighed again. My light for this world was fading fast and I couldn't muster up the courage to tell him that I was afraid. I knew bad things lingered in the dark. I saw what lingered in the dark, and I wasn't keen on sticking around outside while they crept out of their hidey-holes.

"Just tired." I decided to say, trying to tug the corners of my lips upward into a smile. I was unable to and he saw right through me.

"I understand your cautiousness," he said, brushing a stray strand of hair behind my ear. "But he doesn't know you're here."

"How can you be so sure?" I asked bitterly, turning away from his touch and him altogether. I stared at the water like it was the most interesting thing on the planet.

"If he did," Iida began, wrapping his arms around my shoulders from behind. "Wouldn't he have already made it clear?"

"I don't know." I replied honestly. Dream Walker was unpredictable, we established that.

"What happened to looking on the bright side?" He tried. I closed my eyes in irritation.

"Since there was no bright side to look on anymore." I said, taking a few steps forward. His arms fell away from me and I proceeded in hugging myself loosely.
