Minerva hadn't really had time to absorb the beauty of her rich red dorm room, or introduce herself to any of her dorm mates. They were all awake from what Minerva could tell, with all their chatter. What could she say? She liked her beauty sleep.
"Finally! You're awake!" A girl with flaming red curls said, as Minerva yawned. The other three girls stared at the red haired girl. "Er, right, um, sorry about that, I tend to talk a lot! I'm Ria Prewett!" Another girl with long blond hair and a cute French accent introduced herself as Affrodille Clement, although she told Minerva to call her Daffodil if she couldn't pronounce it. The other two girls, to Minerva's relief were muggle born twins, called Iris and Ivy Wood. Both had had chocolate brown eyes and hair, with tanned skin.
Minerva's accent was always stronger in the morning or when she was tired because she had less mental energy to hide it. "Me name's Minerva McGonagall," She sounded even more Scottish than she usually did.
"I love your accent!" The twins and Ria said in unison.
"What accent do you 'ave? I can't really 'ear accents in English because I've been speaking, er, French all my life, because I, er, lived in France," Minerva smiled weakly.
"I'm from Scotland, and I like your accent way more than mine it's prettier! And for the record, I don't normally sound that Scottish!" The girls all laughed, but their conversation was cut short by a rap on the door. The prefect from the train was standing there, and told them, in her very demeaning voice, that they had five minutes until they should be in the great hall. Minerva smiled (although her smiles weren't very big). She loved Hogwarts already.
"Minerva!" Minerva turned around to see Pomona coming down the stairs behind her. Minerva waved. "How's Gryffindor? Pity we're not in the same house..." Minerva nodded. "Well, I'd better get going!" She pointed at a group of girls she assumed were her dorm mates. "We can still be friends though?" Minerva was touched. She'd never really had friends because she had always been the weird kid.
"Of course!" She said, hugging Pomona. She grinned, and waved at Pomona.
"Minerva! Hurry up! I like my breakfast hot!" Minerva shook her head at Ria's impatience. The twins rolled their eyes simultaneously, and Affrodille looped her arm through Minerva's as they lost themselves in the moving staircases, chatty paintings and winding corridors, all the while aching for a nice hearty breakfast.
When, after what seemed like hours of wandering through an endless maze, the girls finally got to the great hall. The ceiling had been enchanted so it looked like a very murky morning, but it still made awe pulse around Minerva's body. Minerva slid into a seat next to Hagrid as Ivy and Iris argued about who was hungriest and Ria just dug in. Affrodile had practically disappeared under a mountain of toast. Minerva smiled at Pomona from across the room. Wow. She was smiling a lot recently.
"Did you have a nice sleep?" Hagrid asked as he stuffed his mouth marmalade toast.
"Yeah, did you?" Hagrid nodded. "I thought you'd be the type of person to go strait to the bacon!" Minerva laughed.
"Oh, I'm a vegetarian. I don't believe in hurtin' the animals, her know?" Minerva blushed slightly, purposely avoiding the bacon and sausages. They continued with the small talk, until Affrodille interrupted them.
"What 'ave we got first? I left my time table in our dorm." Minerva fumbled with her time table.
"Double herbology with the Hufflepuffs, then double transfiguration!" Minerva smiled. Sounded like a great day.
