A/N: CHAPTER 30!!!!! I CAN'T FLIPPING BELIEVE IT!!!!
"MINERVA! MINERVA! WE HAVE A POTIONS TEST IN FIVE MINUTES WHAT ON EARTH DO YOU USE FLOBBERWORM MUCUS FOR?" Ria yelled, bursting into the common room. Minerva handed her a scrap of parchment (a flashcard). Minerva was revising (cramming) Girding potions. They increase the consumer's endurance for a few weeks.
"I need one of these!" She muttered, scribbling at the speed of light. Once the potions exam was over, the whole of second year let out a collective breath of relief. Minerva breezed through Transfiguration and Charms, even though she made eye contact with Hagrid in the middle of the exam and started blushing, but had slight panic before Herbology the next day.
"Fluxweed...fluxweed...fluxweed...Pomona!" Pomona quickly explained the properties of Fluxweed. "Oh yeah! Thanks!" It turned out it wasn't even on the test. History of Magic, DADA and Astrology also passed without a hitch the next two days.
"No more exams!" Ria threw her notes up in the air.
"Ria! Those were my notes!" Minerva exclaimed. Ria grimaced.
"And now I've got to pick them all up..." She groaned. They all just lay in the sun, soaking up its rays before went home, where it was bound to rain or suddenly become winter again. (A/N: Uk weather *eye roll*)
"Hi," Minerva glanced up at Hagrid and smiled.
"Hi," He lay down next to her.
"I'm going to miss 'ogwarts," Affrodille said, thoughtfully.
"Yeah, it's like a second home more than a school," Minerva sighed, already looking forward to returning
"I'm glad we're all friends," Ria smiled.
"Group hug!" Ivy yelled, and Minerva grinned, truly grateful for her friends as they all bunched together, as well as a very awkward Hagrid and Pomona who ran across the grounds to get there.
"Minerva?" Hagrid was standing a metre away from the door to the dorm, obviously wary of the enchantments on it.
"Mmm," Minerva's wand was in her mouth as she stuffed every possible thing she could in her case, as well as a neatly folded Hogsmeade letter the next week.
"Um, your quill," He handed her a quill which Minerva had completely forgotten about.
"Thanks!" She said, putting her wand behind her ear instead. Their hands brushed and they "
"Sorry I can't stay over the summer," Minerva shrugged.
"It's alright. I understand that you need to actually go to the Care Home and meet them and everything, but at least I'll see you in the fourth week!" Hagrid smiled.
"Yeah," Now Minerva put her wand in her bun, and it made Hagrid's heart flutter slightly. She really was so beautiful. "See you on the train!" Minerva nodded.
"Affie? Where's that jumper I leant you?"Affrodille threw a soft blue jumper at her. Once her trunk was packed, Minerva walked to Professor Dumbledore's office.
"Little miss Gryffindor," Minerva stopped in her tracks, cursing the cold voice and the cold sneer.
"What do you want from me?" Minerva exclaimed, trying not to show him any emotion but failing. Tom put on a fake expression of innocence.
"What do you mean? Can one not make a friend?" Minerva wanted to slap him. So she did.
"What is actually wrong with you?" She stormed off, and he chuckled, rubbing his smarting cheek. She had a strong hit, he'd give her that.
"Fiesty," He laughed cruelly, annoyed he couldn't stretch his leglimency over borders. If he could, he most definitely would.
"Professor, I had a thank you gift for you," She handed Dumbledore a hand knitted Gryffindor scarf.
"Thank you, Minerva! You are a very promising student, and have a lovely summer," The next thing she knew, she was at the station trying to get to her friend's compartment. She paused for a second, looking back at the castle she called home, and the students she called family.
"I'll miss you," She murmured, before being pushed towards the train. Minerva smiled when she saw her friends' initials scrawled in the corner.
"Hey Minnie," Ria and Ivy were playing a heated game of exploding snap, and Affie and Iris were in deep discussion about question 4a on the charms test.
"Minerva, does Rictusempra immobilise someone or propel them backwards?" A flushed Iris turned to Minerva.
"Um, your both wrong. It's a tickling charm!" They blinked at her.
"What?!" Minerva joined the argument and won after Ria yelled at them to stop arguing and Minerva pointed out that she'd just joined the argument herself.
"Where's Hagrid?" Minerva asked, realising the train was about to pull away.
"Why do you want to know?" Minerva blushed slightly at Ria's question.
"Because we're about to leave!" Just as she said that Hagrid appeared in the threshold, sweaty and breathless.
"I...ran...nearly...missed...train...sorry," He panted, sitting down heavily. Minerva laughed.
"Only you," The journey passed quickly. It was a patchwork of exploding snap, a precarious game of wizards chess and general teasing and giggling. "Third year...wow!" Minerva didn't know where the time had gone. In six weeks time, Malcolm would be starting first year and Robert would be nine! When had that happened? Even though the train journey was completely pointless and an utter waste of time considering Minerva lived half an hour from Hogsmeade on foot, but she enjoyed it none the less.
"Bye!" She hugged her friends goodbye with promises to owl.
"Bye Minerva," She turned around to hug Hagrid goodbye, but before she could, he kissed her. The noise from around them just disappeared, and for a second everything was still. He pulled away and smiled shyly before running off. Minerva just stood there, recalling the feeling of his lips soft on hers.
"Minerva! Are you sunburnt?" Minerva looked at her mum in surprise as she brushed her cheek with her thumb. Sunburnt? Oh. She was probably blushing.
"Uh...yeah, it was sunny yesterday," She remembered the rain the day before. "Uh, I mean, recently.
"What have I told you about staying in the sun?" Her mum tutted. Minerva took her arm and they apparated away. The moment they got back, she vomited in a bush. That kind of ruins the imagery of my first kiss, she thought.
As she lay in bed that night, all she could think about was kissing Hagrid. I kissed Hagrid! I kissed Hagrid! That night she dreamt about their wedding.
