Riding in Patty's sedan as the sun dipped behind a purple and pink curtain became a daily routine for Awsten. He gazed out towards the sun, his right knee drawn up against his chest as his mind lit up with thoughts.
"What're you thinking about, Aws?" Patty would often ask, reaching over and laying a sympathetic hand on his shoulder. Despite falling out a long time ago, Patty always had a soft spot for Awsten, even Awsten knew that.
Awsten would always snap back into reality and smile sadly, beginning to mess with his own fingers and sighing. "Geoff. He's probably so scared, you know?"
Patty would always give Awsten a sympathetic smile and squeeze his shoulder. "I promise you, we'll get him back, okay?"
"Okay." Awsten would answer. But both him and Patty knew they were starting to wear thin. They didn't believe each other's promises anymore. It had been a week and a half since Geoff left, and they were already wearing down and wanting to give up.

Fingertips of shadows danced along his pale skin as the moon shone down onto the blinded windows. The fingertips of his lover ran teasingly up and down the skin, leaving goosebumps rising all over his body.
It was just one of those nights where words weren't exchanged, where loving touches and heated kisses were all that were given. It was one of those nights that Awsten cherished the most.
Awsten's thighs were clasped around his lover's hips, while his head was buried deep into the other's chest. His blue hair was shimmering with brief flickers in the moonlight, and his eyes were shut away from the world. Tonight seemed perfect, and he never wanted the moments to end.
"Awsie."
It was a single word, but it still made Awsten's chest swell in anticipation and love. He glanced up and met the same faded blue eyes that often stared back. Awsten tentatively ran a hand through his lover's hair, feeling the silky strands wrapping themselves around his fingers.
They exchanged a heated kiss, one that lingered upon both of their lips long after they pulled away. The goosebumps were prominent as the other's calloused fingertips ran slow circles into Awsten's skin.
The moon outside began dipping lower as the signs of dawn breaking slowly appeared. Awsten's eyes shut out the rest of the world while his fingers ran themselves along his lover's jawline and cheek. There was only one more word spoken that night.
"Patty."

Daylight broke across his skin as his eyes peeled themselves open. He was met with chipped hotel room walls and the smell of stale sex from the room next door.
Sitting up in bed, he glanced around his surroundings, noticing the younger boy pressed up against the window with a dimly lit cigarette caressing his lips. "What're you doing, Awsten?" Patty called out as he tried rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. "You don't ever smoke cigarettes."
"I smoke cigarettes when I can't find any weed." Awsten inhaled another puff before pushing the butt into an ashtray. He turned on his heels, coming face to face with the same faded blue eyes he had seen for years. "Want one?" He produced a box of Marlboros from behind him, which were opened and fresh.
In almost a split second, Patty had joined the purple haired boy at the window, puffing nicotine through his lungs and thinking about plenty of thoughts. The sun was just now rising into the sky, and it looked much like it did inside of Patty's dream. "Do you remember—" Patty inhaled more smoke, blowing it out through his nose and wincing as the burn stung throughout his sinuses. "—the night you snuck over to my house?"
Awsten's features visibly paled as the cigarette hung loosely around his lips. "The night you kissed me? Or the night we—"
"The night I kissed you." Patty waved the other thought away, obviously not wanting to mention more than what was on his mind. "Doesn't the sunrise look the same as it did that night?" His fingers traced the horizon for the younger boy and smiled when Awsten agreed.
A moment of silence washed over their conversation, but Patty soon picked it back up. "Do you ever wonder what could've been?" He whispered lowly and somewhat prayed the other boy couldn't hear him.
Another wave of silence followed, making Patty want to throw himself through the window he was looking through. "Sometimes." Awsten mumbled as he pushed his almost brand new cigarette into the ashtray. "But then I remember that if it wasn't for you—" Awsten turned on his heels and began pulling his clothes onto his body, beginning to get ready to meet Travis for breakfast. "—I wouldn't have met Geoff."
