Anamarie had been an outcast most of her life. She had never really gotten to settle down, gone to one particular school for very long, had no friends to name, and was an only child. Her family was always on the move. Her father's job was what kept them moving constantly. They never stayed for more than a week at one place.
Oh yes, Anamarie was all alone. All she wanted was stability, a place where they could settle down and be normal. Looking towards her mother's way, who was getting dolled up in the front seat, Anamarie knew she would never get that chance.
"Oh, Ana, honey," her mother exclaims with cheer. "We have found the nicest place to stay at this time! It's in a suburb just near Maintime Beach. It is simply breath taking."
Anamarie gives a half-hearted smile. "Can't wait."
"Oh, don't be so sour." The bleach blonde woman turned in the passenger seat. Her mother's dazzling crystal blue eyes bore into Anamarie. "This is prime season for us! Spring break, everyone on vacation, and the hotels near the beach will be stalk full of that delicious green paper we love!"
That was the moment the drivers side door swung open in a quick motion. Her father's slicked back, greasy hair was the first thing she saw before he swung the duffel bag in the back. He slamed the door before cranking the car up. "Oh, yes yes! We have made it good this time, my two beauties!"
"Oh honey, that didn't take lomg at all," her mother gaped. "I didn't even have time to put my lipstick on."
Her father peeled out of the gas station and onto the highway, heading towards the interstate. "Sorry dear but," he slamed his right palm into the steering wheel, "I just knew that was the right choice!"
Anamarie watched the gooey love-struck adults with nausea. She leaned back into the seat, and buckled up. It wouldn't be long now. She could almost time it in her head. Let's see... They were in Georgia right now...
There was sudden glow from behind the car as the three entered the interstate. The familiar call echoed and Anamarie could almost feel her parents giddyness of the chase begin to brew.
Ah, yes. Her parents. Did she forget to mention they were thefts by trade?
