"Sir are you still waiting for somebody?" The waiter asked, a sympathetic look as he gazed towards the empty seat across from Hoseok. The boy shook his head, a kind yet bittersweet smile on his lips, "He'll come. I know he will, he's just..." he paused, thinking up something, anything that would clear his boyfriends name as the boy gazed out the window towards the rainy city filled night, "Working, yeah, he's just working overtime again."
The waiter nodded, a sad kind of smile before he walked away, leaving Hoseok alone in a restaurant full of people and a clock that never stopped ticking.
It wasn't a fancy restaurant, the two of them never really did fancy anyway, but still. He couldn't help but to wonder why it had to be tonight, why he's boyfriend would always be hours late or cancel all together for every date but tonight, their one year anniversary, Hoseok couldn't stop that one word from circling his mind in an endless cycle, why?
At least an hour had passed, he weren't sure, after about thirty minutes he'd stopped keeping track but the waiter came back, nervous as Hoseok began to notice all the stares, the couples now looking over towards him and even more so, the empty seat in front of him.
This time Hoseoks hands started to tremble as he hid them in his lap, trying to ignore the fact that practically everyone in that whole restaurant now knew he'd been stood up, but at least they didn't know it was for his one year anniversary. Unable to look the man in the eyes the boy turned to gaze out the window again, "Um sorry, maybe I should just go-"
But before Hoseok could continue, before he could think, before he could even breathe, a man who's dark eyes held the night sky locked eyes with his though the window, his hair and black jacket practically drenched from the rain but his eyes wide, stopping mid stride and looking at Hoseok as if he had some kind of question, or many some kind of answer.
And just like that he was gone, walking away again into the unknown as Hoseok turned back to the waiter, throwing himself back into unforgiving waters as the stares and whispers only seemed to increase. "Yeah, I'm sorry, I'm just going to go-"
"Hey! Sorry I'm so late babe!" An unfamiliar yet strong voice called from across the small restaurant, the same man who was drenched just a minute ago was now practically jogging his way towards Hoseok and...did he just call him babe?
The waiter looked just as surprised as the stranger sat down in the vacant seat in front of Hoseok, a smile wide and gum filled as he apologized to the boy and then to the waiter for being late. He seemed to recognize Hoseoks surprised state because as soon as the waiter left, he whispered, "Just go with it, my names Min Yoongi by the way."
Hoseok still had trouble processing everything that was happening, but was able to squeak out a "Jung Hoseok...why-"
"How long have you been waiting?" The man asked, cutting the boy off as he looked over the menu.
"E-excuse me?"
"How long."
Hoseok knitted his brows together, sighing in defeat, "Over an hour...he's not coming. But how did you-"
"Look I'm, I'm not really sure but the look in your eyes there just screamed for help. One look at your situation and it's pretty clear." The boy across from Hoseok stated in a matter of fact tone.
Hoseok huffed, "I'll have you know I was completely fine before you came. You're the one who should be asking for help your completely drenched and-" the boy was about to speak before Hoseok quickly continued, "And no, you're not cutting me off again, I have a boyfriend you know. We're celebrating our one year."
