Chapter 6

He stops at an ice cream shop 20 minutes from the school, we get out and order then sit at a bench.

" so, when's the last time you skipped school?" I ask

"Like last week"

"Oh, nice"

"Have you ever?"

"No, I'm not really the type"

"Oh"

"Yup, but there's a first time for everything" I say

" true"

We finish our ice cream then we get back into Cameron's  car.

We drive back to his house and he let's me in, we walk inside and it's quiet. We walk upstairs and we go into his room, we lay on his bed and look up at the ceiling.

" if my mom ever found out about this I'd die" I say while laughing

He laughs and he moves a bit closer, I can feel his body heat on my side. He turns on his side and looks at me then I turn on my side and look at him.

" you know for someone who's supposed to be this bad ass kid, you don't seem that bad" I say while laughing

" that's only because of football season, once it's over I'm back to the old me" he says with a smile on his face.

" when's the season over?" I ask

" Thursday's our last home game, you should come" he says and I smile

" maybe" I whisper

" maybe?" He whispers back

" mmhm" I say as my eyes start to feel heavy.

I inch my way closer to Cam until our chests are touching, I bring arm up in between us and place a hand on his chest. He wraps and arm around me and my eyes close slowly once he starts playing with my hair.

" Cameron! Dinner!" A woman says

I shoot up with wide eyes and I check my phone. It's 5:30!

" shit!" I say as I see I have 3 missed calls from my mom and 24 texts.
I throw the blanket off and I get up.
Cameron wakes up and looks around.

" what time is it?" He asks confused

"5:30, my mom is gonna kill me" I say as I put on my shoes.

" fuck!" I say " how am I supposed to go down the stairs without anyone seeing?" I ask quietly

" I mean, they already saw your car" he says as he shrugs

" oh god" I say as I rub my temples "ugh, I gotta go"

" wait! Let me walk you down"

We walk down the stairs swiftly and no one notices, we stand on his porch and I let out a deep breath.
" im sorry" he says and I look up at him "what?" I ask confused " none of this would've happened if we wouldn't have skipped" he says and I roll my eyes.
" shutup, it was nice" I say and he shakes his head
" but if I hadn't-.." he starts but I cut him off with a kiss, he grabs my waist and i hold onto the nape of his neck.

" it's okay" I say and he smiles

" see you tomorrow Cara"

I walk to my car and start it.

" what's this ones name?" My mom asks as I walk back inside.

"Cara" I say with a smile

" nice name.. something serious?" My dad asks

" no" I reply

" I've seen her in school, she's really pretty. Way out of Cameron's league" Ally says

" ally be nice to your brother"

" it's the truth! Shes not easy like every other girl he's with" she says with a laugh and I look at her and roll my eyes.

I park in the garage and I shut off the car.

"Fuck!" I yell as I bang my steering wheel.

I walk up the stairs and I open the door.

" where were you?? Is this a fucking joke?" My mom yells

" I was picking up a shift at the diner and I completely forgot to text you, and it was super busy and.. I'm really sorry" I say and she looks up at me with her hands on her hips.

" do you know how worried I was? That's so unlike you!" She yells

" I know! I know! But I've just been so busy with homework and just everything! I'm sorry." I say

She let's out a deep breathe and her hands drop from her sides

" it's fine.. just.. don't do it again. Please" she says softly and I nod my head.

" I'm gonna go to sleep now"

" you don't want dinner? I made spaghetti"

" actually, yeah. I'll take some"

I pick up my plate and put it in the sink then I walk up the stairs to my room, I grab my phone and I text Cara.

Grounded?

No lol. Told her I was working

Ms. Cara... lying?? The world is ending!!

I stare at my phone with a big smile on my face

I repeat to myself over and over. Cameron just called me babe!
