Chapter 54 - Why not me?

"Hyeji! Did you-

"Yes mom! Sleeping bag, brush, medicines just in case I get sick, everything done!" I say for the thousandth time trying to calm my mom down.

"Honey, just take-

"Yeah, I'll take care of myself and my friends!" I say and she nods.

"And don't-

"I won't get lost there mom! I'm not five!" I say and she shook her head.

"You're not fifty either!" She teases which makes my jaw drop.

"Mom!" I complain before hugging her.

"Have fun." She whispers and I nod. She dropped me to school and for the thousand and one time she told the same thing again.

I walk to the ground where Taehyung, Yoona, JB, Jamie and Jimin are.

"Hyeji! You're hereee!!!!" Jamie says being hyper excited. Jungkook wasn't here yet and Sehun couldn't come because of his brother's wedding. JB looked at me and smiled and so did I. We weren't awkward or anything, I didn't see a reason to be one.

"Yup, what's up?" I say.

"I'm so excited!" Taehyung says jumping like a two year old kid.

"Who isn't?!" Yoona says.

Most of the students were jumping around, screaming and using their phones. Most of them had already shown up. I wondered where Jungkook was.

"Guys, listen up! This is where your trip starts. We'll be going by bus and it'll be a long trip, so if you don't feel well, make sure to contact me. Be careful and enjoy!" Mrs. Kim shouts which makes all the students hoot. We all get inside the bus and sit down. I take the window seat and leave the other one empty. Yoona was sitting with Taehyung while Jamie with Jimin. JB walks towards my seat and sits down.

"Long time, eh?" He says showing his usual sunshine smile.

"We saw each other like ten seconds ago?" I say which makes him chuckle.

"Heard you and Jungkook are together now?" He says and I nod.

"Yeah..it turned out that way." I say not knowing the reason I was burning up.

"He's late though." I say and JB nods. I look out of the window and see him running towards the bus.

"Geez! I thought I was gonna miss it!" Jungkook says while getting in the bus, panting.

"I thought he wasn't going make it." I say, mentally thanking his supersonic speed for not missing the bus. He looks around the bus and our eyes meet. I could hear the girls hoot. His eyes travel towards JB and his expression suddenly changes into a disappointed one. He sits beside one of the students just before Bambam and Mina. Our bus starts moving towards our destination. Jimin and Jamie were behind us while Taehyung and Yoona were ahead us.

"Sehun couldn't make it?" Jimin asks. Their conversations could be heard if we'd try and listen in the noise.

"He said he had his brother's wedding." Jamie replies.

"Ahh, I never knew he had a brother though." Jimin says.

"He told me once when we were in the library talking about the weirdest situations we've been in. He hit his brother's butt in a party and his brother chased him there the whole time!" Jamie says in between laughs.

"You two seen to have gotten really close?" Jimin says and Jamie seems hesitant about replying.

"Umm, we're good friends?" She says. She sounds confused herself.

"He likes you, doesn't he?" Jimin says and a tone a sadness could be heard but he manages to recover it quickly.

"I'm not sure.." Is all Jamie says. They change the topic and talk about the camping and random things.

"Hey? Remember our bus ride?" JB says and I nod. How can I even forget that day when someone except for Jungkook made me get butterflies in my stomach. I wouldn't demy that somedays back when Jungkook was being a jerk, JB was someone who was with me throughout. I liked him, but it was always as a friend.

"So? Got any super model? Or still stuck with the old ladies?" I tease him which makes him laugh.

"Correction. 'Hot' super models." He says which makes me chuckle.

It was almost eight when we moved and now it's almost one. We've been talking a lot. I've been taking glances at Jungkook and so is he. He's been looking at us in every ten minutes.

"You want?" JB asked. I look down and he has his earphones. I nod and use the right one while he uses the other one. He played 'Why not me?' by Enqique Iglesias.
