Jamie smirked knowingly at your flustered words, chuckling through his barely opened lips. "Sure, we will find somethin' that even ya can be useful with sheila. Maybe cleanin' or whatever it is peasant woman do... But first, ya need a warm wash n' dry gowns. Can't let ya get sick after all, eh?" He announced with certainty, rising to his feet with a swift jump.
You diffidently peeked up at him a tad bit bewildered by that prospect. Was he serious? A real bath? Jamison helps you to your tiered legs with a firm hand whilst you still ponder the thought, before curiously following him to the brazen bath aesthetically centred in the rooms as it fills with steaming hot water.
Testing the thermal current in the tub with your still shaking fingers, you found yourself enjoying the mellow warmth glide between your still cold digits. The doctor took note of your content perplexity, glancing over your shoulder with a witty smirk.
"Right, you're just a common girl, wouldn't expect you t' know what a real bath is." He remarked, jeering in tune and witty in voice.
"Well, I'm just not some spoiled genius that inherited a fortune." You replied the comment, before a sudden faint, unexpected tug at your dresses corset made you flinch upright. Eyes fearfully darting over your shoulder with a cross look, which you angrily shot your friend with.
"Hey, what do you think your doing?!" You snarled at him with a bemused voice, getting a entertained giggle in return. "Jeez woman, I was only trying t' lend ya a hand, this thing seems too complicated to get out of alone. Ya know, bathing in full clothe isn't advised, not even for a common girl like yourself." The doctor wits, unmoved by your complaints as his nimble, svelte fingers undo the corsets hooks and strings.
"I suppose so, sorry, for being so defensive, I mean. There is no reason to be so timid. We're well acquainted after all... And it wouldn't be the first time we took a bath together." You apologized, mildly embarrassed for snapping at him so ungracefully, it was just strange to you that he bothered to be so kind to you.
Of course you had been childhood friends, but it's literally been years since you had seen him last; and both of you had grown and matured quite a bit since these careless days of children's frolicking and games. And you presumed it to be foolish to dwell on the idea that things now were still quite as harmless and playful a they had been.
Still, it was hard to convey how much you wished to relive those days, these alleviate summer days were you had no worries in or expectations to fulfill, the possibilities seemed so endless and free; like you were the monarch of your own little world.
But now, those dreams had washed away together with the rain. At least you were with someone you knew to be a familiar face, someone who didn't think of you as a monster, a witch, something to be feared and avoided when you passed by on the streets.
The soaked fabric heavily adhering to your skin, it was still cold and gross, and getting rid of it was a delight to your senses. The parry of goosebumps on your skin increases margin every time a ever so faint gist of wind phases past you, the soaked clothing just making it worse.
"Oh dear, let's just hope ya don't get sick. I have no time t' look after ya." He mutters irritated as you sense your corset losing around your rib cage allowing for more agile movements.
"I won't get sick, surely not. And in any case, I have to thank you for the help, doctor. It is a pain getting that thing of, I admit." You murmur whilst unbuttoning the collar of your overground with Still cold, unmovable fingers. Jamie takes notices of you're apparent struggle to properly control your trembling palms.
"Wait, wait, your fingers are all stiff, let me assist ya with that while we're at it. " He offers cheekily, sliding in front of you with a bratty smirk. You awkwardly look aside to the ground, you hated to admit your need for help right now, but you were still to frozen to properly utilize your fingers.
