It is true that coming back here is like walking into a long memory lane, but (Y/n) never expects to be bombarded with all the actors that contributed to them in such a short span of time. Staring at the taller man standing next to her feels uncanny, not realizing that confusion is written all over his face.
"Excuse me, but uh," He says, unsure, looking at the woman in front of him skeptically, "do we know each other?"
(Y/n) is taken aback upon hearing the unfamiliar voice coming out from his mouth. She might not remember everything, but (Y/n) is certain Bumblebee was mute. Apparently, her certainty is wrong; things change, right?
Letting out a thin smile, she's not exactly surprised by his reaction. It's been quite a while, after all.
"Well, you have a name tag there," She points at his uniform where his name tag is printed on, but that's not how she came to know his name, "but I know you, from 15 years ago. Ring a bell?"
She catches him examining her from top to the bottom like an investigator or a detective. It doesn't feel weird, knowing that the long time she spent away changes her in many ways. In that moment, (Y/n) also drinks in the other's features; tall, athletic but not bulky, the same blond hair. She can even see the dark brown police uniform under the bomber he wears. Ah, so he's a cop now.
"(Y/n)?" This time, Bumblebee has the surprised look on his face. "You're (Y/n), right?"
(Y/n) nods enthusiastically with a laugh, replying with somewhat of a relief in her voice. "Oh God, I didn't think you'd remember me at all."
It feels great to meet another familiar face.
"It was hard to dig up old memories." He tells her with a big smile on his face; for what, she would never know. "You're a pretty lady now! 15 years is a long time, huh?"
"Very long." She chuckles then gestures to the uniform under his jacket. "You're an officer now?"
When she asks, Bumblebee looks a little flustered as he zips his jacket up. "Yeah. It was tough, but here I am." He replies. "My shift hasn't started yet, I should keep the look at bay."
"Understood, sir." She jokes, giving him a pat on the shoulder when her question is answered with a nod of his head. "That is cool, though."
As his hand goes to grab a chocolate bar, Bumblebee asks the young woman again, "Are you going somewhere?"
(Y/n) nods, taking her purse out with her free hand, "Yeah, work." She answers. "I'm supposed to be interviewing a suspect."
"A suspect?" His eyebrows rise in a questioning manner. "Are you a detective or something?"
"No." (Y/n) shakes her head, walking next to him to the cashier. "Lawyer. I'm trying to bring someone to jail. I need to have a chat with him and get his confession."
"And you're going to your office now?"
"Not yet" She hands her food and drink to the cashier to scan and count. "I'm going to the police station first, though I still have to wait for my escort."
Bumblebee's eyes dilate in surprise. "Wait, are you the one that's trying to bring Starscream to jail?"
"Wait, how do you know?"
Then, he offers her a little smile, taking his turn to pay for his food. "I'm the one who's supposed to bring you there." He says then. "Can't believe it's you! What a small world."
The implications of his answers dawned on her in an instant. "Oh my god." She breathes out. "Did they know about the orphanage?"
"No, don't worry."
