Sick Day

A/N: I'm doing this because of the lack of love for Cameron Frye. And I'm stuck home with a cold on Spring Break. So Cameron Frye, this one's for you.

I groaned as my alarm rang out in my room, killing the comfortable silence. I sat up with my head pounding and instantly regretted it. I'm sick.

"Shit." I mutter, pinching the bridge of my nose to ease the headache. "I can't go to school like this."

I groan again and grab the phone on my nightstand. I have to call Cameron and tell him that he doesn't have to take me to school.

"Hey Y/N." Cameron says over the phone. "Still need me to give you a ride this morning?

"Nah," I say, sniffling. "I think I have a cold."

"Damn, I'm sorry. Do you need anything?" He asks, understanding how I felt. Even though he was a bit of a hypochondriac, he still would get sick.

"No thanks, I probably just need sleep." I reply.

"A-Are you alone? I mean, did your parents leave already?" He stutters, resizing that the question sounded weird.

"Yeah, but I'll be fine. Pretty sure I'll live." I start to chuckle and it turned into wheezing and coughing.

"No, I'm coming over." Cameron states. "Having to do stuff by yourself when you're sick feels like hell. Give me a few minutes."

"Cameron you don't-" I start as he hangs up. I sigh and lay back down. There's no stopping him now.

A knock on the door wakes me up from my nap. I wrapped a blanket around myself and walked downstairs to unlock the door. Cameron is already in the kitchen, putting a grocery bag on the counter.

"How'd you get in?" I ask, rubbing my eyes.

"You've told me where the spare key was before." He shrugs.

He walks over and gives me a hug. Wrapping my arms around his torso, I sigh happily. Cameron isn't usually one for affection, so I enjoy this while it lasts.

"I'm sorry that you have to feel like this." He says sadly, his face buried in my neck. "It feels like shit, doesn't it."

"A little bit," I answer, my face buried in his Gordie Howe jersey. "But I'll feel better soon."

He rests his hand on my forehead, frowning as he does.

"You have a fever." He says and lets go to grab something out of the grocery bag on the counter. He pulls out what looks like a bottle of pills and opens it, handing me two pills.

"Take these. They should bring the fever down in no time." He explains.

I go and sit at the counter and smile at Cameron. You only ever see him this calm and content once in a blue moon. This I why I love him. Once you get to know him, he's one of the sweetest and most amazing people you'll ever meet.

He hands me a glass of water and I swallow the pills.

"So, you being the 'professional ill person' here, what do you do when you're sick?" I tease.

"We'll, there's not much to do when you feel like shit." He chuckles, leaning against the counter. "I usually take a nap or watch TV."

Next thing I know, I'm sitting on the couch watching MTV with Cameron. We're wrapped up in a blanket, his arm around my shoulder. I blush at his actions, even though we've known each other for so long and it shouldn't embarrass me as much as it does.
