After an hour of sitting in the garden, Kyle heard the doorbell so he got up and went to answer the door.
"Hey mate!" Greeted Woody as Kyle opened the door, then gave Kyle a bear hug. Woody was always a great person for hugs, they were always warm and snuggly - like a bear. Not that any of them had actually hugged a bear before...
After Woody pulled away and broke the bromance, Kyle felt much happier and much more ... safe. ... safe from all this 'haunting' weirdness.
"I thought you needed a hug!" Said Woody, Kyle smiled.
"Haha I did! thank you! You always know how to make people smile!... Anyways, do you know when Will is coming?"
"Oh yeah he said he might be a bit late," replied Woody.
"Alrightly then!"
There was a long silence.
They heard Will's car park outside the house.
"Hello! Sorry I'm late!" Said Will breaking the silence.
"Oh hey Farquar!" Said Kyle with a big smile on his face.
" Aye mate!" Woody said as he waved to Will.
Kyle then greeted them inside for a drink and then they all sat round the dinning table with cold beers from the fridge in their hands.
"Sooooo..." Kyle said, trying to start a conversation. There was a short silence.
"Are we actually going to something about the body?" Will asked, breaking the short silence.
"Wow we sound like some sort of murders!" Kyle chipped in, making then all laugh.
"Yeah! well we do need to do something, we can't just leave it there, it would really creep visitors out! just seeing this dead body surrounded by nearly dead flowers, in the back of the garden!" Said Woody. They laughed and agreed.
"Well actually last night I called a coffin maker to make a coffin for him and he is going to come tomorrow to measure Dan." Exclaimed Woody.
"You WHAT?!" Kyle sat up straight in his seat. "You could have told me earlier that this random stranger is coming to my house to measure my best friend's dead body!"
"Well I only called him last night!" Woody replied.
"Yeah but you could have called me after you rang him."
"It was quite late."
"Yeah yeah yeah guys calm down, god sake it was last night, it's not like he's coming today is it!" Will chipped in.
"...Fine." Sighed Kyle. There was an awkward silence. "...soooooo, ... when is this guy coming?"
"He said at around eleven."
"Ok, would you guys like to come back here again tomorrow?"
"Yeah sure."
"Awww is Kyle scared of the coffin maker?" Will said in a high girly-baby voice.
"No!" Kyle said and they all laughed.
"But yeah sure I will come tomorrow!"
"Good good." Replied Kyle as he sat back in his seat.
As they carried on drinking theirs beers and chatting, Kyle heard voices. The voices that he heard before were coming back. Dan had come back.
"Kyle you should be dead."
"Why did you lie to me?"
"I will kill you tonight."
"why did you leave me?"
"you should have saved me"
"Why kyle? why?"
"You left me to kill myself"
"I lost my life for you, I thought I would be happier in heaven, with you. I thought I trusted you. But I was wrong. So wrong."
The voices were getting loader and loader, Kyle tried his best to ignore it but they got worse. Kyle need to have a minute to himself. So he went to the toilet to take a breather.
He shut the door behind him and sat on the toilet seat and buried his head in his hands.
"Make it stop! please make it stop!" Kyle muttered to himself in fear. He started to panic. He didn't no what to do. He couldn't make it stop. He couldn't block the voices out.
They were too strong.
Too loud.
Too frightening.
His fear getting stronger.
The voices getting louder.
Kyle sat there in fear.
In silence.
Tears trembling down his face.
All that was left to help him was hope.
