He stood outside the classroom after all his classmates had left, some throwing him confused glances, and took a final breath. Moment of truth. He opened the door and walked in, closing it behind him.
Jimin had been bent over some exercise books but looked up when he heard the door close. "Sicheng-ah!" he exclaimed, his eyes lighting up as soon as he saw him. However, the smile didn't last long as he noticed the uniform he was wearing. "What the... what's going on?" He frowned.
-
"Did you, er, get the picture I sent you?" Taehyung stuttered, not moving away from the door and not looking up from the floor.
Jimin pressed a button on his phone and opened the file. "Taeyong... and you and your brother. But, judging by your uniform, Taeyong isn't who you wanted me to see, is he?" Jimin's voice had turned surprisingly frosty and Taehyung's head shot up, mouth open to protest to the tone of his voice before realising that he was quite justified.
"You're not Sicheng, are you." It was probably meant to be a question but Jimin was certain of the answer and made it obvious in his voice. He didn't sound at all pleased. Taehyung stayed silent. "You tricked me."
"I didn't!" He couldn't help but object.
"Didn't you?" Jimin asked angrily. "Then why the hell were you pretending to be your brother to make me go out with you?!"
"That's not how it was," Taehyung said quietly.
Jimin stood up, making his way slowly round his desk and stopping in front of it, arms crossed seriously. "Then how was it, Taehyung? Was I talking to you the entire time on that app too?"
Taehyung shook his head. "No. You really were talking to Sicheng hyung on there. But when you arranged to meet up, he wussed out and asked me to go and to, err, get rid of you..."
Jimin laughed bitterly. "Why didn't you? It would have been much better if you had."
Even though it was true, the words still ripped through Taehyung like a knife. But he'd known it was coming. Still, he didn't know how to reply.
"So. What do you expect from me, Kim Taehyung?" Jimin demanded. All trace of his adorable smile gone and replaced by anger and betrayal. But no matter how much Taehyung told himself it wasn't there, he was sure he could see hurt and disappointment in his eyes as well as the anger. He hurt Jimin.
"I-" his voice cracked. "Nothing."
"Good. Because we are strangers. I am your maths teacher and you are just a student like everybody else. And we are nothing."
Taehyung gulped, the tears in his eyes stinging badly but willing them to stay put. He didn't want to cry in front of Jimin. But he also didn't want it to end like this.
"Jimin, please-"
"DON'T YOU DARE CALL ME THAT!" Jimin yelled, surprisingly loudly, but with a hurt tone. "You have NO right to call me anything other than Mr Park or sir! Students should know their place!"
Taehyung bit his lip and bowed his head. "I see," he whispered. "Sorry... sir." He bowed and left the room as quickly as he could, running all the way to Taeyong's office and praying he hadn't gone home.
Thankfully, he was still in there, typing away on his computer.
Taehyung burst through the door and fell down in the chair opposite before bursting noisily into tears like a thirteen-year-old girl.
