The Long Trip

“Come on Brooklyn! We have to leave!” Mom yelled as she shook me awake. I stumbled up out of bed and to the bathroom. I looked in the mirror at my puffy hair. There was places were my hair was straight, then curly. I combed out my hair and turned on the shower. I stepped in and got washed up. Today we are going on the plane to Ireland!

I step out of the shower and put my hair up in a towel, and wrap one around my body. I look in the foggy mirror and wipe it off.  I pull on a bra, undies, a blue shirt, and a pair of leggings.

I walk out of the bathroom and to my room. I had packed my bags yesterday. I grab my three rolling suitcases, and dragged them downstairs.  I walked out to the car and shoved my bags into the trunk.

“Brooklyn, go check to make sure you have everything!” Mom said from inside the car. I ran inside the house and up to my room. I walked into my room and looked around. Oh god! I almost left my iPod! And my phone! I scooped them up along with some other things and ran outside. I hopped in the backseat and we took off.

It’s about three hours to the airport, so maybe I could listen to music or something. I went onto my I Phone and played ‘Don’t Stop’ by 5 seconds of summer. I put in my earphones and drifted off to sleep. I can’t wait for Ireland…

I thought as I fell asleep.

“Wake up!” My mom yelled. I shot up and hit my head on the roof. “Ouch!” I yelped as I slumped back down. “We’re at the airport…” Mom trailed. I stepped out the car with my bags in hand. I walk into the airport with mom following me. I’m going on my own, so she is staying here. Mom told me the flight should be about 19 hours long.

We say our goodbye’s as I board the plane. I sit down in my seat, which is row 6 on the right side. I sit down and notice that I am apparently sitting alone. That is, until a boy sits next to me.

I whip out my phone and start playing my favorite game, Minecraft. “Hey. I’m Carter.” The boy… Carter said to me. “Well hello there.” I said poking his ribs making him chuckle. “By the way, my name is Brooklyn.” I smiled. “Cool. So, where are you off to?” He asked.

“Well since you asked…I’m going to Waterford Academy.” I answered beaming. “You mean the riding and school one?” He questioned. “Yep, that’s the one!” I answered again.

“Cool! We could be riding buddies!” He beamed. “Absolutely!” I laughed. I yawned. “You tired?” Carter asks. “A little bit.” I answer back. I put my music on shuffle, and put in my headphones. I hear a faint “Have a good sleep.” From next to me and I mumble a thanks.

I start listening to my music, but I can’t fall asleep! I open my eyes to see Carter looking at me. “What is it?” I asked worriedly.

“Nothing, you’re just so beautiful…” He mumbled. I blushed ever so lightly. A few seconds later, a little kid starts kicking my seat. I turn around and see he is about three.

“Hi there! What’s your name?” I asked the little boy. He stops kicking my seat and looks up. “Hi! My names Mason!” He beamed. “Hi Mason! I’m Brooklyn! So, do you want to play a game?” I asked looking at his mother. She nodded and I lead Mason around to our seat. I sat him on my lap facing me.

“Let’s play…” I thought. “Pat-e-cake!” Mason said. “Sure! Why not?” I said. We played Pat-e-cake for about two hours. After that, Mason fell asleep, his head resting on my shoulder. Carter fell asleep too. He is just now waking up. Wow.

“What?” I asked, referring to his hurt expression. “You’re hanging around other guys!” He said loudly. “Shh! One, Mason is sleeping. Two, he is three!” I whisper-shouted.

“I know! I’m only joking!” He retorted. Wow. He is childish. We have SO MUCH in common. Right?

“Attention. We are landing in five minutes.” The announcer said. I sat up with Mason in my arms and handed him to his mother. “Thank you for watching him! I finally got some sleep!” She beamed. “No problem!” I said back. “Come on! We have to go!” Carter said grabbing my wrist, giving me goose bumps all up my arm. I smiled and grabbed my two carryon bags. Carter grabbed his and led me off the plane. He led me to the luggage return to get our things. On the way here, we exchanged numbers.

Once we grabbed our bags, we waited for whoever was coming to pick up the students. There were lots of others here for the Academy too. We even had our own little area! I can’t wait for the Academy!! I wonder what it looks like…
