Dryden had updated Autumn on the Lycan situation before popping his head round the door. Lily paused and started to shift in her seat nervously. When he realised the coast was clear, he entered. ‘Come over and see how much better she looks!’ Lily shouted as she went to pull him over to bed. As she did so, a sharp thorn caught his hand and made a small but deep cut.
‘OUCH!’ he shrieked as it started to bleed.
‘I’m so sorry! Go to the stream, and I’ll stay here to look after Faith,’ Lily said, inspecting the gash.
His blood glistened in the moonlight like a ruby - beautiful and precious. Deep crimson, thick and inviting; I couldn’t somehow quench my thirst for this alluring liquid.
He stepped closer to the bed to inspect. ‘You do look better, Faith. Not so pale like us!’ he joked as he bent over to stroke my head.
The blood was too close for my body to take and although I tried to resist, the thought of his tingling fluid thrilling my tongue consumed my ferocious mind. I was not strong enough. It took over my senses. It danced around my head; I felt drunk and light-headed as the warm sensation coursed through my body, from my head to my toes. It felt like I was experiencing an interior full-body massage of tiny kisses.
I tried to move away from him but the baby had sensed my desire for blood too.
It was too late.
With a bolt of energy, I sprang to my feet and pinned Dryden to the bed. ‘What’s going on? What’s happened to her eyes?!’ he shrieked as Lily tried to throw me off him.
It was no use. I had the strength of an army of Gods; there was no moving the rodent from this eagle’s claws.
Lily threw an abundance of fairy dust onto me, which succeeded in slowing down my craving, but only for a split second. When I turned to protect myself from her attacks, she could see she was no longer dealing with her patient, understanding and calm school friend. I was unrecognisable.
My skin had lost all its life (and vitality). I had turned a willowy white shade and my fangs had made another appearance, this time unlike the other vampire fangs I had previously sprouted; these were longer, thinner and jet black in colour.
My eyes, still set on my prey, were a cold icy blue with specks of red; they were intense and screamed insanity.
Lily alerted the others and with a flash, Rohan was in the room. He was closely followed by Autumn, the leader of the fairies. My lover froze as he watched my transformation. ‘You need to get her off him now,’ ordered Autumn firmly as she tried to use her powers to throw me off Dryden, but failed.
