Ruby's Apartment, 10:00 PM

Ruby jumped as the door slammed behind her, nearly causing her to drop the cookie sheet she was holding. She turned to see Weiss at the door, but turned away towards the window. "Heya Weiss, how did it go?"

"I got the job..."

"Really? That's amazing! I knew you could do it!"

"I turned it down."

The room fell silent, save for the ticking egg timer on the countertop. The ticking only made the moment feel longer, before Ruby broke the silence. "But why? Isn't it your dream to sing professionally?"

"Yes, it is. But they said that I would need to move to Atlas and leave this life behind." Weiss shuddered again at the thought. "When he said that, I realized something Ruby."

Weiss raised her head, revealing her tear-filled face. "I wouldn't trade this life for anything. I have more than I could ever ask for with you by my side, no matter how rude the people at the bar are! He offered me millions of dollars and a mansion to myself, Ruby, but none of that compares to you!"

Weiss rushed across the room and brought Ruby into a deep embrace, nearly colliding with the cookie sheet. She sobbed into her partner's shoulder, clutching the back of her shirt. "Weiss..." Ruby began, "This isn't the end."

Weiss withdrew with a sniffle. "What do you mean?"

"This isn't the end for you. You're not just gonna live as a waitress the rest of your life, we can always find another place for you to sing!" Ruby smiled, "Just because one door closed doesn't mean there aren't any in the rest of the hallway."

"Your analogies are horrible" Weiss sniffled, a broken laugh interrupting her sobs. "But they still make me happy nonetheless." Weiss pulled Ruby into one last tight hug before wiping her tears on her sleeve.

"Well the good news is that the cookies are almost done. Would you like some?"

"Don't I always?"
