best friend's brother - part one

Shuri and you stepped out of the car's interface. "That was so much fun!" You exclaimed.

"Yeah!" she agreed. Your laughing was interrupted by T'Challa bounding into the lab.

When your eyes landed on him, your face paled. "King T'Challa!" You bowed your head respectfully.

He laughed. "There's no need for that, (Y/N). You're my sister's friend."

You stood up straight. "Right." You chewed your lip. Of course, that's all he would ever see you as.

He turned to Shuri. "Have you finished the improvements to my suit?"

"Have some patience, will you?" Shuri rolled her eyes. "They will be finished soon."

"Thank you." He looked back at you and flashed you a disarming smile. You grinned back and tried to lean your elbow on a nearby worktable, but you missed and fell to the floor. On your way down, you reached for the table, but you just ended up knocking several tools to the floor. They landed with a loud clattering sound.

You laid down on the floor, your face flushed red. Could you embarrass yourself any more? You heard deep chuckling and looked up to see T'Challa standing over you. He extended a hand to you. You took it, and he helped you to your feet.

"Are you alright?" he asked with an amused smile on his face.

"Yes, thank you." You looked down to see you were still holding hands. You retracted your hand as if you had been shocked by his warm skin.

He folded his hands behind his back and looked at you and Shuri. "Well, I will check back on my suit soon. You two have fun." Your insides flipped when he winked at you before walking away.

Shuri flipped her brother off as he left. You looked down at the worktable's surface, attempting to hide your blush. Your best friend gave you the side eye. "You're helpless around him, (Y/N)."

You looked up at her, your eyes wide. "Wha-what do you mean?"

She shook her head and laughed. "Nothing." She gestured to the tools scattered across the floor. "Just clean up the mess you made."
