Everyone at the DEO are so understanding and supportive, not like back in Krypton. Well my part of it any way. I found out Kara is a superhero and that I have the same power as her. The thought is surreal. The idea of having the ability to be powerful. All my life I've been the minority. It's gonna be a lot to take on, but I've finally been given the opportunity to do good without being shamed for it.
It's been a few days since I fortunately crash landed here on earth. I haven't left the DEO yet. I had to stay here so they could make sure everything was okay with me. And to give me time to get over the fact I'd been asleep for 23 years and my sisters dead.
My favourite agent here is Alex. Shes surprisingly just as supportive as Kara. That's probably because she had to watch over Kara when she first came to earth.
"Right. You ready to go see some earth, Dawn?" Kara said to me, her and Alex entering the room I'd practically been in for the past 3 days.
"Yeah." I replied with excitement. Time to start this new life I've always dreamt i'd have.
I entered the cortex where I said goodbye to everyone and thanked them for their help. Kara couldn't get me out there quick enough, she said she and Mon-el were excited to have someone to look after and have another person join everyone on 'games night.' Whatever that was.
Kara was no longer wearing her peace logo. Instead she wore a plain white, long sleeve, tight fitting top with a cute denim dress over the top of it. She wore glasses now and her hair was back in a ponytail. She looked just as pretty as when she's being supergirl. Mon-el was in his usual clothing: jeans, a plain dark blue shirt and pale grey sweater. I'd been wearing some spare agent clothes from the DEO since I got here. Kara promised she'd take me shopping with Alex and her friend Lena , who apparently is really nice, tomorrow which I'm super excited about.
...
I stepped out of the building of the DEO, all different scents exhaling off of the earthlings surrounding me. The city was busy, people were everywhere, little mobile devices strapped to their hands. A bit like Krypton, only our phones were holographic, there was no solid screen.
I look around me and I see the tall buildings looking out at the busy people, minding their own business. The sky is a clear blue although the light wind is cold. "What do they call this place?" I asked them, still admiring the beauty of it all. It was simplistic, but there was something about it that made me feel safe and happy for a change.
"This is National City." Alex replied.
"Awesome." I said. "Is there any bad parts that I need to stay away from?" I asked, promising myself I will never go near somewhere like I was again. I don't want to lose the good people that accept me for wanting to do good.
"There's a few, but that's like anywhere. But don't worry, we're not gonna let you go near anything bad or unsafe. We're here to protect you and teach you to protect yourself also." responded Kara reassuringly.
...
Kara opened the door to her and Mon-el's apartment. The warmth surrounding me straight away.
"Mon-el went out and got a duvet and some pillows for you. I hope the couch will be okay for now?" Kara said.
"That's perfect thanks Kara." I said with a huge smile. I didn't even have a couch to sleep on back on Krypton let alone a bed so this was luxury for me. I pulled her in for a tight hug. I've never been so grateful in my life. She was gonna take care of me, I could tell.
"Ow." Kara winced but then laughed. I was confused.
"I'm sorry." Scared id made her dislike me.
"No it's fine it's one of your powers, you have super strength like me." She explained.
"Oh right of course." I said apologetically.
I stood by her dinner table, admiring her beautiful apartment. Alex went to the fridge and got out a soda. "You want one?" She asked me, holding out a  can of... something. On the front it read 'mt dew'. Is that even English? "It's important you eat and drink plenty with these powers." She said with a smile.
"Okay." I said, taking the cold can of 'mt dew' from her.
Kara went into another room as Alex invited me to sit in the couch. "I have some pyjamas you can borrow tonight before we go on our shopping spree tomorrow!" She called from the other room.
She came back in and we sat and watched tv in her comfortable living room. I was surprised at how quickly time had passed. We were sat there for a whole 4 hours, laughing and discussing custody arrangements because Alex jokingly said she wanted to keep me. I love it here so much.
"Right, I better get back to my apartment, Maggie is suppose to be making dinner. I'll see you both tomorrow for our shopping spree!" She picked up her coat, gave us both a hug and left.
"I'm guessing you're not that tired huh?" Kara said.
"Nope. I don't think I'll ever feel the need to sleep again." I joked.
"Movie night it is then!" She said, getting pop corn and more soda out of the fridge.
"Aren't we gonna get fat on that?" I laughed, leaning up on the counter.
"That's another superpower we have, there's no such thing as fat. We don't put on weight."
"Awesome."
