I walk out into the bright sunlight, and I find myself wondering why it's so bright if we're underground. I'll ask the Dormouse later; it sounds like something she would know.
"Alice!" I hear two voices yell in unison, and I turn to find the twins running towards me.
"Hey." I say. "The Hatter told me to come train with you guys."
"Yay!" Dee says happily.
"Let's get started." Says Dum, heading toward a small building I hadn't noticed before. Dee follows and I'm not far behind. Dum opens the doors and I see rows upon rows upon rows of weapons, on the tables, on the walls, on everything.
"What weapon are you best at?" Asks Dee, and I shrug.
"I dunno. I haven't really tried much. I'm okay with a knife, I guess."
"Well... See how this feels." Dum says, handing me a dagger, rather plain and dull. I take it, unsure of what to do.
"Why would you give her that one?!" Asks Dee, pulling the weapon from my hands, replacing it with another.
"No no no no no. That one won't do at all!" Dum says, taking the dagger from me. As they continue bickering, I look around the shed, and something catches my eye. I move over to the corner of the room to a table covered in dust, as if it hadn't been touched in ages. A glint of silver is what had called to me, and I uncover a dagger, smaller than the ones the Twins had given me. It has an ornate design on the hilt, along with a small diamond. To me, it's breathtakingly beautiful, and I decide to try it out. I walk outside and see three targets lined up in a row. I've had experience throwing knives, so I expertly throw the dagger at the target, hitting the bull's-eye.
The sound draws the attention of the Twins, and they come running over. "Alice!"
"Where did that dagger come from?"
"I've never seen that one before..."
"Wait..."
"Is it..."
"No... It can't be..."
"I think it is..."
They glance at each other, then look at me. "Where did you get that?" They ask together. Why do they keep doing that? It's starting to creep me out....
"In the shed, why? What is it?" I respond, staring at them.
"Oh nothing...." Dum says, matching my gaze.
"Good aim." Dee comments, changing the subject.
"Thanks." I say, pretending not to notice their odd behavior. I go over to the target and pull the dagger out, when I hear a gasp from the Twins.
"What?" I ask, turning to look at them.
"Nothing." Dum says quickly.
"Let's start your training." Dee says, trying to change the subject yet again. "We obviously know you're good with a knife, so let's work with other weapons for now." She pulls a few weapons off the wall and places them on the table in front of me. "What's this?" She asks, pointing to one.
"Battle axe?"
"Correct!" she says, handing it to me. "How's it feel?"
"Heavy." I respond, trying not to think about how easy it would be to just swing and kill someone with one blow....
"Try it out" Dum says, breaking through my thoughts. Wait, does she mean on her? She's crazy!
She laughs, noticing the look on my face. "There's some practice dummies out back. Try it out on them."
