I turn around to find a very interesting... person (?) running towards me. He's about my age, pale, with-interestingly enough- white hair with the tips dyed black. He's rather cute, but his clothes look out of place. He has a white dress shirt and a black vest covered with tiny clocks pointing to different times. But, I must say, the weirdest thing about him... is the ears. Yes, I said ears. On the top of his head are two tall rabbit ears.
"Alice!" He says when he reaches me, slightly out of breath.
"Uhmmm... Who are you?" I ask, tearing my eyes from his ears to look at him.
He rolls his eyes. "I'm the white rabbit, but most people call me White. I've come to-"
"Wait," I interrupt. "White Rabbit? Like, from Alice in Wonderland?"
He winces. "If it could even be considered 'Wonderland' anymore. And please don't mention that stupid little girl." He brightens up again. "But, now is not the time to bother with that nonsense. We must hurry or we'll be late, late, late!" He pulls out a small silver pocket watch with four crystal insets, and a thick black 'W' in the center.
He checks the time. "Tut tut tut. We're already twenty minutes behind schedule!" He grabs my hand and runs off, dragging me behind him.
"Whoa whoa whoa." I stop, yanking him back. "Where are we going?"
He sighs. "The so called 'Wonderland'. Now come with me."
Now it's my turn to sigh. "I don't have a choice, do I?" He shakes his head. "Oh well. I guess anywhere's better than here."
He begins walking, and I follow closely behind. We walk into the forest- and yea, I bet you're wondering 'Hey Alice, why the HELL would you go into the forest, with a COMPLETE STRANGER!?' But, I kind of, in some weird, crazy way, believe him. I am insane after all. Plus, if he ended up being some crazy psycho killer, I'm pretty sure I could take him. I mean, did you see what I did to Blondie back there?
Anyway, we walk into the forest, and I see a small doe. "Stop." I hiss in White's ear. He appears startled, but stops nonetheless. I note with approval that he is exceptionally quiet.
I slowly creep up near the doe, extending my hand towards it. Despite my violent nature, I emanate an aura of pure innocence and good intentions. Me? Innocent? As if!
The doe inches forward, moving toward me. When it reaches me, I softly stroke its muzzle, and with my other hand, I slowly slip my knife out of my boot. In the corner of my eye, I see White watching this exchange intently.
I inch closer, and with almost inhuman speed, plunge the knife into the doe's underbelly. It crumples to the ground, and I stab it over and over in its side, releasing any leftover rage from the earlier fight. I become entranced by the crimson stream of blood pouring from the creature.
After a few moments, White clears his throat. I turn around to face him. He still holds the same emotionless expression, but I see a glint of amusement in his cold blue eyes. "You'll fit in quite nicely in Wonderland. Come my dear, we must be going." I nod, completely drained of all anger and adrenaline from earlier. He helps me up, and we continue. As we walk, I wipe the blood off my knife and place it back in my boot.
"Sooo..." I say, breaking the silence. "What's wonderland like? Is it like the story?"
He shakes his head. "Not at all. It's-" He pauses, lost in thought. "Why don't I let you find out for yourself?" He stops suddenly, and pushes me down. I grasp at the air, trying to find something to grab on to. But then I realize-I'm falling down the rabbit hole.
