It had been three days since I had been out of the infirmary and walking around as a ‘blind’ person. I could see everything with the vibrations in the ground, and the energy that surrounded everyone. I had gotten better at it if I do say so myself. Itachi had been lending me some of his clothes and I couldn’t complain, they were really comfortable. Pein still wasn’t back, and for him being an S-ranked criminal and the leader of a criminal organization, I didn’t expect him to take so long to obtain a lousy scroll from some underling village. Everyone in the Akatsuki was friendly, some a little more friendly than others. With Pein gone, he wasn’t here to give out missions and everyone seemed to be enjoying the break from their leader. There were certain people here that I enjoyed talking to and hanging out with and that was Deidara, Kakuzu or as I call him Zu-Zu, Tobi was a little annoying, but he was still nice to talk to, and of course Itachi. He usually kept the creeps of the Akatsuki away from me and that was nice. I was sitting next to Zu-Zu at the counter, while he counted money. He usually tolerated me, but never said anything about me being annoying.

“So who did you kill this time?” I asked nonchalantly.

“A drug lord,” he replied flatly.

“Hm.”

“With leader-sama gone I can focus on my bounties instead of going on stupid missions.”

“Will you take me one day?” I asked eagerly.

“Take you on a bounty hunt?” Pure shock laced his voice.

“Kid, you’d get yourself killed. Besides weren’t you the second hand man to the Hokage? Aren’t you supposed to be all about protecting people?”

“I protected the people of my Village and I can’t do that being blind!”

“Then how do you expect to go bounty hunting, being blind.”

I shut my mouth and pouted. It was true was good would I be if I couldn’t see the person to predict their moves and make eye contact with them. THAT GAVE ME AN IDEA!

“WAIT! I have an idea!”

“Okay kid what is it?”

“Maybe I could be a distraction, a decoy! To lead the person away from any wondering eyes and you could kill them then and there!”

“That’s a real good idea kid, It would definitely make my life a lot easier.”

I could hear the grin in his voice.

“So when can we deploy this plan of action.”

“Tonight, we’ll sneak out, don’t tell your babysitter,” Kakuzu whispered as he bent down to my level.

“Deal!” I whispered loudly.

“What about a babysitter?” We both jumped as Itachi walked into the kitchen.

“Zu-Zu was just telling me about how he always wanted to babysit some kids, but he never got the chance, so he wanted to babysit me!” I giggled as I could feel Kakuzu’s glare in the side of my head.

“That’s nice? I guess?” Itachi replied awkwardly.

“C’mon Mika, I’ll take you to the lake.”

“YAY! THE LAKE!” I yelled as I stood up and skipped next to Itachi.

“BY ZU-ZU!”

“DON’T CALL ME THAT!” I heard him yell at me.

I giggled and Itachi led me to the exit. I could feel the lovely spring air on my face as we walked through the forest. The lake only a few more meters away, I can feel it’s energy. It was a soothing energy. We arrived at lake and I sat down at the bank. I breathed in deeply, taking in the crisp scent. Itachi sat next to me.

“How are you feeling little one?”

“Alice came to a fork in the road. ‘Which road do I take?' she asked. 'Where do you want to go?' responded the Cheshire Cat. 'I don't know,' Alice answered,” I sighed, taking a deep breath.

“'Then,' said the Cat, 'it doesn't matter.’”

“What are you trying to say?”

“I’ve only been here for less than a week, and I’m not sure if I want to go back to the Leaf,” I replied looking down at the lake.

“You want to be with your brother and friends, Mika, I understand that, but you have friends here, and Pein loves you to know end, the decision to go back will be hard for you. Just know if you want to leave it will be very difficult for you, and Pein will be after you day in and day out. Just think about what you want, Mika.”

“Hm.”

I didn’t know what I wanted, of course I had friends here and I had friends in the Leaf, and my only brother is there. I guess I can just see this out day by day until I truly know what I want.

“Think of it this way, you’re basically like Alice in Wonderland. Debating on which place she’d rather stay. One where things are mad, totally twisted, yet incredibly fun, and your friends care a lot about you, or the one where you have responsibilities, and duties to take care of, yet you have friends and family who care about you and will miss you while you’re gone. It just depends on your decision.”

I pulled on Itachi’s shirt with the Uchiha symbol on it and a pair of his old shorts. I snuck out of the room and headed to the entrance where Kakuzu was waiting for me.

I felt his energy there and I put my shoes on quickly.

“You ready kid?”

“You know it!”
