I looked at Kabuto and his body seemed almost fully healed. I panted as I stood on my legs knowing they wouldn’t hold me for much longer.
“You don’t have any chakra in your legs, you’ll soon be incapacitated.”
“That’s what you think.”
I flipped from my legs and onto my hands where I felt sturdier and more balanced. I would have to fight this way, and it would be a piece of cake. I only had to pull this off until the chakra restored its way back to my legs. Kabuto looked at me shocked at my current standing.
“What? No way? She’s going to fight on her hands?”
“You’re dead!” I balanced on one hand while pulling another kunai from my pouch and placing it between my teeth. I glared at Kabuto as I started to run at him, I focused my chakra to my hands, with lightning speed I jumped into the air and released the kunai from my mouth and aiming it at Kabuto’s shoulder. The kunai went through his shoulder and pinned him to the ground, with only the circle from the handle sticking out. While I was still in the air, I started doing hand signs.
“Earth Style! Mud Cage!” I landed on my hands and the earth started to rumble, the rough dirt turned into mud and started to encase Kabuto in it. I heard a slither, as a snake started heading towards me again. I started backing away, a sharp rock dug into my hand causing me to fall over, and tumble slightly. I landed on my butt, and quickly pulled out a shuriken and threw it at the snakes head. The snake dodged it and I started to panic. I don’t have time to make hand signs and I didn’t exactly bring an arsenal of weapons! I was quickly swept off my feet and brought to the other side of the field. I looked up and noticed it was Kakuzu.
“Zu-Zu?” When did he get here? I heard rustles from the tree and noticed more of the Akatsuki members flooded into the field.“Are you alright, Mika?” Konan asked running over to me.
I nodded. “Kabuto drained all the chakra from my legs, is all.”
“Well it seems that I am increasingly outnumbered,” Orochimaru, panted. He looked even more horrible than when we first encountered him. He walked over to Kabuto and a snake appeared out of nowhere. It was much larger than the others were. It picked up Kabuto and then Orochimaru jumped on top of it.
“We’ll meet again soon, Mika-chan,” The way he said my name made me shiver. He was definitely someone I didn’t want to run into in a dark alley.
I looked over at Pein and he barely looked as though he broke a sweat. He turned to look at me, and for once, I couldn’t read the expression on his face.
“Kakuzu take Mika back to her room so she can rest. Konan I need you to run into town and get Mika some clothes and ninja tools,” Pein ordered.
“What about you Leader-sama?” Konan asked.
“I have some things I need to take care of regarding Orochimaru’s interest in Mika.”
We all nodded and Pein left in a different direction, and Konan went in a different direction from him. Kakuzu sighed and put me on his back, carrying me back to the base. We walked in silence to the base and I couldn’t help but be curious as well. What could I possibly have to offer that everyone wanted? This has been going on for as long as I could remember. Too be honest I didn’t know why I stayed here in the Akatsuki, sure I had some cool friends, but what about my responsibilities in the Leaf? What was my purpose here? I wanted to be a strong Kunoichi, and protect everyone I loved, but what about everyone I left behind? That’s when something occurred to me. I can finally see why the Akatsuki had taken me under their wings… I was wanted by just about every S-rank criminal out there. It’s best that I stay here, that way the Leaf Village would be safe, and no one would attack it. I sighed. I looked up and noticed that I was in my room. How long has it been since we got to the base? I hope Itachi wasn’t too worried about me, or I wonder if anyone told him what happened. Of course, Pein would, that was basically his job. I sighed now that I think about it, what do I even call Pein and I? All these thoughts were really starting to get on my nerves. I sighed and plopped down onto the pillow, staring up at the ceiling. I closed my eyes and decided that I should probably let the darkness embrace me.
