°°°°Amora Pierce°°°°
"¡Ayuda!¡Policía!" I cried out, as false tears poured down my face. Instantly, a security officer was at my side, but when he looked into the car, Austin was gone.
"¡Él me pegó! Me sacó de la escuela!" I continue, and the guard leads me inside.
Shit, not how I expected this to go.
"Hun, do you speak English?" I could see him scour his brain for his Spanish knowledge. "¿Hablas Ingles?" He struggled to say it properly.
"No hablo Ingles." I said simply, not wanting to over do it.
I was ushered into a room, and soon enough a nurse came in, tending to my wounds.
I sat still as I was examined and poked, and prodded. They finally left me alone at around 11. I was hungry, and exhausted.
I was distracted from my self pity, when someone opened the door to my room.
"¿Que?" I spoke in Spanish, in case the officer was back.
"Nice try sunshine. Next time, move a bit faster." Aidan? Aaron? Wait, Austin. That's his name, Austin.
"I don't know what you're talking about " I said as he came into view.
"Playing immigrant? Thats a bit low, even for you. I'm lucky I got out of there." He didn't seem mad, just amused. I fiddled with the wrapping on my knuckles, looking up at him. I met his brown eyes, my head going fuzzy.
"Yeah, but it worked." I smiled. "Why did you care that I'm hurt? It's not really your business." I'm not mad, just confused. Most times, when someone helps you, they want something in return.
His eyes danced in amusement, which quickly turns serious. "I'm not allowed to worry for a friend?"
"Who said I'm your friend?"
"You did, the moment that you called me a waste of oxygen."
"I don't think you understand what I met."
I smiled. It'd been a while since anyone besides Alex had spoken to as if I was a human.
Alex bursted into the room, holding a bundle of balloons, and a bag. "Amy! Best friend!" His voice was loud, compared to the quiet banter before.
I saw Austin tense up. Why was he so weird around Alex?
"Alex!" I matched his enthusiasm. He made me grin, by just being around.
"How are you? What happened? Did he hurt you?" He shot a poisonous glare at Austin, sending me into a fit of laughter.
Austin glared right back, making me laugh harder.
"She was beat up when she walked in. You'd know that if you were a good boyfriend." He snapped, and I stopped laughing and caught Alex's wide eyes, for a moment.
And then we both bursted out laughing.
Austin only stood there for a moment, and Alex rolled on the floor, gasping out.
"You... You think... I can't..." Alex laughs again.
"What?! Tell me!" Austin was resembling a sullen child now.
"No offense to Amy," he said, composing himself, and standing again. "But she's not my type."
Austin didn't seem to understand, seemingly getting more upset. "So you're too good for her?!"
I had stopped laughing, watching this play out before me.
Alex laughed. "You really can't be pretty and smart, can you." He said sarcastically. "I'm gay, you corn chip."
Austin paused, seemingly registering the statement, before something hit me.
"Was that why you were pissed yesterday? You thought Alex was my boyfriend? Are you jealous?" I smirk as best as I can, ignoring the twinge in my lip.
Austin blushed. "N-no! I just-- uh-- well--"
He was interrupted by someone walking into the room, someone I never thought I'd see outside.
"Dad?"
