QUESTION 1. What is your name (or nickname/pen-name if preferred)?❞
— My name is Kei, but my readers know me as FatVanity.

QUESTION 2. What started you on the path to writing?
— My mother actually; she was an author by trade. She had a couple of poems published, and the writing bug genetically bit me.

QUESTION 3. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer, and specifically in the genre of urban fiction?
— Probably around the age of eight, I would write poetry about random things like the color blue and it's simplicity. When it came to me writing urban fiction, I was around thirteen, and I read "Flyy Girl" by Omar Tyree. I was captivated from then on.

QUESTION 4. When did you write your first book and how old were you?
— I was around thirteen or fourteen.

QUESTION 5. Who are some of your favorite authors on and off Wattpad?
— On Wattpad I adore: QueenGoldChainz IvyWrites TrillAsTaja
AnonymouslyYours91

Off of the site, I read a lot of Brenda Jackson, Omar Tyree, Mary Monroe, and Carl Weber.

QUESTION 6. How long have you been writing?
— On and off for about twenty years.

QUESTION 7. How do you think you've evolved creatively?
— Conflicts from life have evolved me as a writer a lot actually. I take my experiences and throw them into my craft.

QUESTION 8. Why did you choose to write in your particular field or genre? If you write more than one, how do you balance them?
— There wasn't enough plus size urban novels out, so I was like "let me portray a young, beautiful plus size queen in a positive light."

QUESTION 9. What are the upsides and downsides to being an author?
— The upside is that people actually take something away from my work. May it be them feeling a little bit more confident or knowing that there is someone out there for them despite any perfect flaws. The only downside is that some times you can't be consistent. No matter how much you try, real life takes the front seat, and writing takes the back.

QUESTION 10. What do you love most about the writing process?
— The interaction between my characters... I don't know but when I write about them in a sense it brings them to life.

QUESTION 11. Why do you write? What keeps you motivated during creative slumps?
— Well, currently I'm taking an extended break, but I write because it's an outlet for me. Whatever I may be going through, I can always put it on paper and some how make magic happen. But music usually keeps me motivated; I listen to a lot of 90's R&B hits or Kevin Gates—they always ease my mind.

QUESTION 12. Do you outline books ahead of time or are you more of a by-the-seat-of-your-pants writer?
— By-the-seat-of-my-pants type.

QUESTION 13. How many books have you written?
— Countless close to 100, but only about 20 have been read.

QUESTION 14. Out of all the books you've written, do you have a favorite?
— I do... "The Ville" is by far my favorite, that and Sevyn Deadly Sins which is no longer available.

QUESTION 15. If someone is brand new to your work, what book do you think they should start with?
— "The Complexity of a Flower". My readers usually gravitate to that one.

QUESTION 16. What do your fans mean to you?
— Everything. I love them with every fiber of my being. Without them, I would've given up a long time ago.

QUESTION 17. What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
— Be positive, and never give up. Writing is a passion which means have fun with it, don't be so serious!
